Pressure increases on Israel: Nicaragua denounces Germany before the ICJ

Last Friday, Nicaragua presented the case before the ICJ court accusing a third party, Germany, of being a participant and accomplice in the genocide that is taking place in Gaza, for not guaranteeing compliance with the prevention of genocide that the ICJ court ruled on on January 26, 2024.

The Order of the Court for Provisional Measures is not
a judgment on the merits, but on the evidence publicly
available the Court found it plausible that the Genocide
Convention has been and is being violated by Israel.

The Court noted that the military
operation being conducted by Israel “has resulted, inter
alia, in tens of thousands of deaths and injuries and
the destruction of homes, schools, medical facilities
and other vital infrastructure
, as well as displacement
on a massive scale
”.

The Court also highlighted that many
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip “have no access to the most basic foodstuffs, potable water, electricity,
essential medicines or heating”.

The facts and circumstances of the Israeli actions in
and against the Palestinians led the Court to conclude
“that at least some of the rights claimed by South Africa
and for which it is seeking protection are plausible.
This is the case with respect to the right of the
Palestinians in Gaza to be protected from acts of
genocide and related prohibited acts identified in
Article III”.

The German Government cannot deny that is perfectly aware
that “a State's obligation to prevent, and the corresponding duty to act, arise at the instant that the
State learns of, or should normally have learned of, the
existence of a serious risk that genocide will be
committed”. Since the risk of genocide is established,
in Nicaragua’s view, that window of time has long closed
and the government of Germany should comply with its
obligations under the Genocide Convention.

In that sense, Nicaragua urges the government of Germany
to immediately halt the supply of arms, ammunitions,
technology or components to Israel as it is plausible
they are being used to facilitate or commit violations
of the Genocide Convention
, including but not limited to
acts of genocide, attempted genocide, complicity in
genocide and conspiracy to commit genocide.
It has been widely reported in the media that “German
defence export approvals to Israel so far this year
[2023] have risen nearly tenfold from last year, with Berlin treating permit requests as a priority” since 7
October 2023; and that “the German government has
approved the export of close to 303 million euros'
($323
million) worth of defence equipment to Israel. By
comparison, 32 million euros
' worth of defence exports
were approved in all of 2022”.

The ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people is also beginning to reveal its facilitators.

Israel-Gaza: At least half of Gaza's buildings damaged or destroyed, new analysis shows | BBC News

Destroying half of the homes, hospitals, schools, universities, cultural buildings or vital infrastructure in the entire Gaza Strip and displacing 2.3 million people is not self-defense, it is ethnic extermination so that this population will never have a home again to return to.

There is a quote that says, "It is easier to bury reality than to get rid of dreams."

Will dreams of freedom and justice succeed in unearthing the reality that oppresses them?

You know, I keep hearing how they are committing genocide.

Israel was invaded by hamas.

Hamasaki hides behind civilians.

Israel is destroying those hideouts.

Sorry

Palestine voted in hamas...10 years ago.
They let hamas hide in their hospitals and personal houses, etc.

Those hideaways are being destroyed.

As they should.

Sorry about civilian deaths.

But this is war, not pickleball.

I don't think Israel is concerned with what Nicaragua, or the ICJ think about how they're handling Hamas.

What would the UN do anyway? Invade Israel?

They should have thought twice before engaging in mass murder and rape. Actions have consequences.

Keep screaming into the nothingness because...

Israel isnt commiting genocide.

Hamas could end the war tomorrow

This will end when the arabs of gaza stop with their genocide and put down their weapons.

Until then they die ... Just like every war ever

Even if Germany took heed of what Nicaragua is saying-and they stopped supplying arms to Israel-what effect would that have?

Zero.

While Germany did increase the amount of military aid/arms sales to Isreal after the vile terror attack of October the 7th,they are FAR from the biggest provider of arms.

Seems like a futile endevour by Nicaragua.

I just looked into Nicaraguas allies and trading partners across the world and I find that they are deeply connected to both Iran and China.
Just like another country who has recently accused Israel of genocide at the ICC-South Africa.

So we have two poor and not very stable countries who are reliant on trade with two of the main enemies of the west..

My wild hypothesis is that these countries are doing the bidding of Iran and China, likely for extra trade/military aid.

Israel was invaded by hamas.

Israel is an occupying colonizing state for 75 years. Since 1967, the international community has recognized Israel's occupation of Palestinian lands as illegal after the "6-day war."

The Security Council reaffirmed this afternoon that Israel's establishment of settlements in Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, had no legal validity, constituting a flagrant violation under international law and a major obstacle to the vision of two States living side-by-side in peace and security, within internationally recognized borders.

Half of the Palestinians were not born when Hamas was voted in.

By the way, Hamas is only in Gaza, the PLO governs the West Bank.

No, a war is between two powers, two armies. Here we have the 18th army in the world, facing Palestine, without an army, without professional soldiers, without tanks, without aviation, without missiles, without an intelligence service and without the military investment that Israel has worldwide.

This is not a war, it is an extermination of the vast majority of children, women and innocents.

Hamas has an "Intelligence" directorate-The IDF have been targeting them-recently killing their deputy,Shadi Barud.

Hamas themselves would say they have "proffesional soldiers."

Hamas has missiles-they still fire barrages into Isreal,as they have done for years before the october 7th terror attack.

Hamas has an extensive network of charities(!) and Jihadi groups worldwde, and are directly funded by the regime of Iran,Qeatar and others who hate the fact Isreal exists.

All of the above can be found in intel reports and in reliable news sources.

Beyond the commercial interests that these third countries have, it is undeniable that denouncing facilitators of this type of crimes before the ICJ will have a global impact and will set a precedent.

Without the fifty US vetoes at the UN, this situation would not have gone this far.

What you call crime is war. Not sure why you don’t get that.

You also view the UN as something relevant.
The UN is an anti democratic organization that allows almost anyone in their club.

Thank god for vetos.

So you are saying that 10 year olds decide the political agenda of Gaza?

By the way, Hamas is only in Gaza, the PLO governs the West Bank.

Kinda to my point...this OP is about Gaza, not the West Bank.

Mossad is not comparable to "Hamas intelligence."

Nor is an army of professional soldiers like Israel's, nearly 200,000 active soldiers and more than 500,000 in reserve, comparable with the 40,000 "Hamas fighters."

Nor are the rockets that Hamas uses comparable with the missiles that Israel uses, you just have to see images of the differences between both. Israel is only a nuclear power...

And what can we say about the financing of one or the other... Israel receives billions, both in direct aid and in weapons.

These comparisons make this not a war, it is an extermination that has already destroyed half of the buildings in Gaza, has killed 30,000 people and injured 70,000.

The 300 + people Ortega had killed in 2018 don't count as genocide i guess , too few dead.

It's a war.

The Hamas and 'Palestinian' IDIOTS attacked a country that could wipe them out. Overwhelming power wins wars. Air superiority wins wars. Evenly matched powers, which you seem to be clamoring for, means endless wars and more dead.

The other day you whined because Israel saves it's own troops by using air superiority. As any nation would that wants to win a war. Now you whine because Israel is stronger militarily. The point of war is to make the other guy die, not your own. You know nothing about the military nor about war.

Hamas should have thought things through before attacing Israel on October 7 then. Nobody on the world stage stepped in to stop Hamas's constant attacks on Israel, yet everybody wants to step in and stop Israel from responding.

For the sake of the starving Palestinian civilians the more pressure on Israel the better , today Kamala Harris called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza , next step they need to take is to stop sending money and arms to the despotic Netanyahu government.

18 years ago not 10.
Netanyahu's Hamas have done what he paid them to do yet I see no condemnation of the despot that allowed this to happen just condemnation of the innocent , quiet sad really.
