If a vacancy occurs on the Republican side, the Republican National Committee (RNC) can either reconvene the national convention, or select a new candidate itself.
Neither party, according to Congressional Research Service, requires that the presidential candidate’s running mate be elevated to the top of the ticket, but that would obviously be the most likely scenario.

The RNC is the same as the DNC.
The RNC, at the end of the day, can pick whomever they want.

Yes indeed.
If SCOTUS rules that Presidents are immune from prosecution for acts they commit while in office, Trump could find himself on the wrong end of a (still) President Biden-ordered execution.
Even if Trump wins in November, Joe's immunity will still be in place until January 2025.

You do realize delegates do not automatically go to your VP pick if something happened to him. It would simply set up a vote of the delegates to a candidate of their choosing as they will no longer be assigned. So in other words if he picks a vp or he doesn't the process doesn't change.

I really hope he takes someone like Tulsi Gabbard. I think it would pull some of the true Democrats (not hard core liberals) and possibly help put things back to the way they should be.
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Dakota News Now, our sister station in Sioux Falls, reports that South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem had a one-on-one meeting with former President Donald Trump Monday.
The meeting at Mar-a-Lago in Florida furthers speculation that Noem is a frontrunner for Trump’s running mate.
The governor had just finished a weekend at the Conservative Political Action Conference over the weekend. Noem tied for first with Vivek Ramaswamy in a CPAC poll for choice for vice president. They both finished with 15 percent, the only two possible candidates with double digit approval.
