The authority had concluded there was no leg to stand on in the protest of the election results.

The authority was in the process of transferring the presidential title, when a false campaign event opposing the transfer of power was conducted by DJT.

That meets your definition of insurrection.

The 14th laid the responsibility on congress. Congress fulfilled that obligation by passing the appropriate legislation.

18 U.S. Code § 2383 - Rebellion or insurrection

Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Trump has NOT been tried or convicted of insurrection in a criminal court, therefore he can not be removed from the ballot for insurrection.

The authority never actually heard or tried ANY cases where election issues arose. SO no, it was never litigated really.

Just read it looks like SCOTUS will issue their ruling tomorrow.

All because they made someone else feel uncomfortable.

The screening for the position of Supreme Court Justice is pretty intense, I would expect a 9-0 but even a 6-3 vote would be 2/3rds majority vote in favor of Trump. The State headlined rulings removing Trump from the ballot were not much different in principle than the interpretation by Shaman Jake to deny the Democrats a presidential election win with his bull horn.

Trump was never actually at that event on January 6th and no member of the Supreme Court should actually rule against his eligibility (IMHO).
