Benedictine Abbot calls Jerusalem spitting incident against him 'heartbreaking'

The latest reported incident of Jewish extremists spitting at Christians comes from Father Nikodemus Schnabel who heads the Dormition Abbey on Mount Zion in Jerusalem’s Old City , Father Schnabel was walking the streets with a German reporter on the Sabbath when has was approached by two youths who spat at and confronted him , due to the culprits being caught on camera they were later arrested.

These aren't the actions of the majority of Jews but they do show the growing intolerance of Right Wing Jews against other religions emboldened by their Far Right Zionist government.

A video of the incident showed Abbot Schnabel walking with Natalie Amiri, journalist with ARD German television, who was filming him. The monk says "shalom" (hello) into the camera before being approached by two youths who start cursing Jesus in Hebrew and spit at him.

"What is wrong with these people, that they cannot accept that Jerusalem is a multicultural, multiethnic city – holy for Jews, Christians and Muslims alike?" he said.

The German-born abbot said questions need to be asked about some of the religious formation taking place in specialist schools known as yeshivas.

"For me, it's a really big question: What are they taught, these special groups, in the yeshiva, in the synagogue? I think there is a lack of good serious religious education," he said.

On July 19, 2023, he refused a request to cover his pectoral cross while visiting the Western Wall (or Wailing Wall), the most holy site for Jews in the world.

Last year Father Schnabel was asked to hide his cross when he visited the Wailing Wall.
In a video clip distributed on the X social media platform, an employee of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, which is responsible for the Jewish site, could be heard addressing Abbot Schnabel. She said she respected his religion, but the cross is "really big and inappropriate for this place."

The incident is just another example of intolerance against Christians by a number of radicalised Jews , Nuns have been spat at , Christians attacked , cemeteries desecrated and buildings attacked.


Again this is not sanctioned by most Israeli's but it's being carried out by those radicalised by a Zionist doctrine of Israel for the Jews being pushed by their Far Right Zionist government.

As with Muslim Madrassas Jewish Yeshivas seem to be a place of Jewish radicalisation.

There is widespread radicalization within political and religious groups worldwide, so I'm not doubting what you believe. I'm just wondering if the Father is pushing this radicalization into the public eye as a means of protesting.

Spitting at a person is apt to provoke an immediate and 9 times out of 10 violent response.

Except it isn't just 2 idiot kids as the other attacks on Christians , their cemeteries and their buildings show , these incidents have been happening since before Oct 7th but your categorising this as an "anti-Israel thread" shows you have no interest in what is happening there.

I'd hit him back but I would kill his wife and children , wider family and those who know him for it.

Israel have taken this to the extreme for no other reason than it's what Netanyahu wants to do , it could be argued this whole thing is a set up for what what Netanyahu wants to do.
