Say, the Alaskan NG heads down to the border in AZ. Near Texas. And there is some non violent, hell lets even call it passive aggressive tit for tat. Could Biden use the insurrection act?

I think he in theory could make the case for it. But I also think it would be political suicide.

The courts as they’re structured would likely side with Texas. Even though the courts recently appeared to side with the fed, they didn’t say Texas was barred from putting up razor wire, only that boarder patrol could cut it if they needed/wanted access.

Claiming insurrection for a state protecting its boarder is such a stretch. I understand the concern after the term got hyperbolically used for J6, but that one even though it’s overplayed is still vastly different than a state securing its border.

Crazier things have happened so I can’t fully discount it, the world often does mad things, but I don’t see it playing out that way.

Sorry in advance for the sarcasm Stinky but where in the world do you get that Biden is concerned about political suicide?

See I, to the dismay of some of the people who usually agree with me and vice-versa, agree with SCOTUS. That the feds are surely in charge of our nations borders. As I do with Texas' right to defend itself. Alas, I do not know where that particular line is. So if Texas is putting razor wire within the feds jurisdiction, then they can of course remove it. Now by SCOTUS not mentioning Texas in that order, it is to be assumed that Texas can keep on trying to protect itself even to the point of going into that nebulous area.

I think this is normalcy bias. (It can't happen here, it won't happen here etc)

I guess my contention that is, based on past actions, is that a Biden admin would actually do it knowing full well that they would not only lose favor but legally lose yet the actions would already have been said and done.

Well, luckily for everyone except for people really vested in Biden, almost every outcome benefits them.

If in September he makes a move to project federal power over a state, that’s game over for the left in the months leading into an election.

The only outcome where I see this being an issue is if it comes to blows… which I just can’t imagine happening, that’s the only way Abbott loses.

Abbott likely has a path to being a future presidential candidate. DeSantis lost his public battles whereas Abbott and Youngkin look like winners.

I suppose one could say Abbott could step up after governor if he was president of Texas… but that’s still less than president of the most powerful country in the world.

Alaska has already spoken up in support of Texas, if Biden title 10s some troops they don't have a choice and have to go. Now will they actively work against Texas, I doubt it we have a large leave me alone I'll leave you alone mindset.

Imagine being so thoroughly devoid of integrity and humanity that you would plunge your country into civil war to try and retain your filthy grip on power. That’s what is happening here. Also trying to provoke an external conflict. The USA must come together and stop this utter insanity.

I think your opinions rely on a standard of common sense.

Nothing I've seen indicates that will be the case.

Are they gonna be working against Texas though? I thought they were coming to help secure the border not to make it easier for them to come through? What we need to do since this has been characterized as an "invasion" of illegal immigrants is activate all the state's national guard and send them all to the border. Obviously border patrol and the feds and Texas and other border states are failing. What is a little razor wire and parts of a wall gonna do when there is so much unguarded border down there? Need to get serious.

They are being requested by the feds, so the will be working against what Texas is doing. Cutting razorwire, allowing access ect.

What a waste of resources. Wow. Didn't watch the video yet still at work but the article I saw framed this as help for stopping it. Propaganda in full effect as usual.

Notice that they are waiting till September before sending them. They will have no problem getting their national guardsmen to go spend the winter there. Snow penguins.

I can't help myself, but I don't see Abbot stepping up to anyone or anything anytime soon.
Also I don't think he would do too well as a POTUS but seems to do good by his people in Texas. I don't like the state but damn Texans sure as sh1t do.
I view him as I view DeSantis. Great governor and should stay in that lane.

Yep. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a Trump / Abbott ticket. As a matter of fact, I'm kinda expecting it.

I don’t know a lot about his broader policies, but the first thing anyone needs before they can even think about running is attention. He’s got quite a bit of that.

That’s a tricky one.

He could get more visibility by being VP, but could also inherit any toxicity from Trumps second term.

Or he could be completely insulated and ride his own publicity he’s garnered once Trump is out of the circuit.

Couldn’t confidently say which play he goes with TBH.

I think the worry will come from when Biden deploys active-duty military to Texas to keep the border open.

That's when the civil war will kick off.

WHY would the federal government need to federalize the National Guard in Alaska to help with the border with Mexico? The Federal Government has the entire US Armed Forces at it's disposal. It shouldn't need to federalize the National Guard up there.

This story doesn't make sense to me.
