Former Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s documentary, "Screams Before Silence," features firsthand accounts of the horrors of that day when roughly 1,200 Israeli lives were taken.
"After Oct. 7, the reports were coming out about not just mass murder, but mass sexual violence. And the usual people who should be speaking out were either ignoring it or denying it. And that's not OK," the Lean In founder told Dana Perino.
The documentary allows viewers to hear directly from first responders and survivors who were on the ground.
One of the doctors assessed that "many" of the released Israeli female hostages ages 12 to 48 − there are about 30 of them − were sexually assaulted while held by Hamas in Gaza. The doctor did not want to elaborate on the specific nature of the assaults out of concern for survivors. The doctor said people who have been sexually abused typically have a mortality rate four times higher than someone who has not been sexually abused.
The second doctor said many of the freed hostages exhibited signs of post-traumatic stress disorder and "came to us as patients with the trauma of those who witnessed very severe sexual assaults."
The official said that "we know" the remaining female hostages are being kept in "very bad mental and physical conditions." The official said the hostages are being beaten, don't have access to enough food, water and medicine, and are held in southern Gaza, where they are transferred from house to house, sometimes over the ground and sometimes through tunnels to avoid detection.
The official said some of the information comes from testimony from the released hostages and other parts of it from Israel's intelligence gathering network, which the official would not comment on.

As Israel Defense Forces (IDF) pushes deeper into the Rafah terror stronghold, more evidence of collusion between terror group Hamas and the United Nations’ Palestinian aid agency (UNRWA) comes to light.
The IDF on Wednesday released drone footage showing Hamas terrorists using UN marked vehicles, which enjoy protection in a combat zone. The clip also shows Hamas gunmen apparently shooting at unarmed civilians in and around the UNRWA humanitarian aid depot in Rafah.
The footage shows “a Hamas terrorist firing at Palestinian civilians trying to get aid at a UNRWA compound east of Rafah in the Gaza Strip,” the Israeli TV channel i24NEWS reported.
Harrowing video released Wednesday shows the moment five female Israeli soldiers — covered in blood and surrounded by the bodies of their massacred comrades — were threatened with rape then taken away to Gaza by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7.
Bodycam footage from the Hamas gunmen shows the moment the young women, operating at the Nahal Oz base outside the Gaza Strip, were handcuffed and pressed against a wall while still in pajamas.
In the sickening video, the terrorists could be heard gloating and announcing their apparent plans to sexually assault the soldiers.
“Here are the girls who can get pregnant,” one of the gunmen said.
“You’re so beautiful.”
Bone-chilling new footage shows a Hamas terrorist and his teenage son casually telling Israeli interrogators how they took turns raping a woman, then executed her during the Oct. 7 terror rampage.
Jamal Hussein Ahmad Radi, 47, and his 18-year-old son, Abdallah, were seized by the Israel Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip this spring and subsequently questioned about the terror attack, the Daily Mail revealed.
Jamal described finding a woman who was “screaming” and “crying” in a house at Kibbutz Nir Oz, a community near the Israel-Gaza border,
“I did what I did, I raped her,” he said nonchalantly.
“My father raped her, then I did and then my cousin did and then we left but my father killed the woman after we finished raping her,” Abdallah said in his own interview tape.
The four Israeli hostages rescued during a daring military operation over the weekend were starved and beaten “almost every day” by Hamas terrorists during their eight months in captivity, their doctor has revealed.
Noa Argamani, 26, Almog Meir Jan, 22, Andrey Kozlov and Shlomi Ziv, 41, suffered the horrific abuse after they were all kidnapped from the Supernova desert rave during the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attacks.
“It was a harsh, harsh, experience, with a lot of abuse, almost every day,” Dr. Itai Pessach, who has been treating the freed hostages at the Tel Hashomer Hospital in central Israel, told CNN.
The doctor said the hostages had revealed they’d been moved by their Hamas captors several times while in captivity and the harm inflicted on them had “left a significant mark on their health.”
“They had no protein, so their muscles are extremely wasted, there is damage to some other systems because of that,” Pessach said, adding that the food and water supply was at times non-existent.
“There have been periods where they got almost no food whatsoever,” he continued.
“There were other periods where it was a little better, but all in all, the combination of the psychological stress, malnutrition or not getting enough food or not getting the right kind of food, medical neglect, being limited to space, not seeing the sun and all of the other things have [a] significant effect on health.”

New Video of Oct 7 Shows Hamas Terrorists Taking Women Hostage - Lining Them Up, Tieing Them Up, Telling them they are pretty and can get pregnant
A man who was stripped naked and raped by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7 has revealed for the first time how he was spat on and humiliated as his murderous rapists laughed.
The victim, only identified by the initial D, is the first man to speak about the sexual assault he and others experienced when Hamas’ elite Nukhba unit massacred, kidnapped and raped innocent people enjoying the Supernova music festival, according to local Channel 12.
“They pin you to the ground, you try to resist, they take off your clothes, laugh at you, humiliate you, spit at you,” said the victim, whose face was blurred and his voice distorted to keep his identity private.
“They touched [private] parts, they rape you.”
Pausing often while recounting the horrors of that day, D said he was shell-shocked to find himself surrounded by “celebrating, laughing” terrorists while others were dying around him.
The footage shows Eitan’a lifeless body hanging from the trunk of a car and being paraded as a sick trophy, while being followed by a crowd of cheering Gazans. The mob then drags the dead body on to the street amid apparent chants of ‘Allahu Abkar’ in the background. Gaza residents are seen kicking and desecrating the body.
The gruesome display was carried out near a Gaza mosque shortly after October 7 attack, news report suggests. “The family of Eitan Levy, who was abducted to the Gaza Strip on October 7 and was confirmed dead since October 7 in December, released on Saturday a chilling video of the abuse of his body near a mosque,” the Israeli news website YNET reported Sunday.
Yerushalmi’s family have learned details of her captivity from the IDF since her body was returned to Israel from Gaza. Describing the tunnel in which she was kept for several weeks, Shani said: “They barely could stand fully … they couldn’t sleep next to each other, only in a line. There were no windows, no air, no light. Barely food, and if they needed to go to the bathroom they were forced to do it in a bucket.”
The IDF said the group’s bodies were found in a Hamas-run tunnel under the city of Rafah, and that they were “brutally” murdered “a short while” before troops were able to reach them. The IDF told the family her sister was “shot in the head from very close range,” and had marks on her hands from defending herself, May told CNN.

'They beat me and abused me': Freed Gaza hostage relives horrifying rape ordeal ...
A released hostage has described enduring horrific sexual abuse after being kidnapped during the Hamas October 7 attacks - as she pleaded with the Israeli government to urgently secure a peace deal to save the remaining captives.
The woman, identified only by her Hebrew initial Dalet, recounted in harrowing detail how she was touched 'all over', adding that 'the only thing that saved me was that I was on my period.'
Speaking to national security minister Itamar Ben Gvir, she said that the remaining female captives in Gaza are being 'raped day and night', and condemned his government for 'failing' them.
