Need to only pay per day. Not salaried. Just make it like jury duty or something. I mean, thats what makes sense to me. They should have to work normal jobs also since they only work 114 days in congress. Part of AOC's [and others] argument for a pay increase is that they have to maintain two residences, one in DC and one in their home area. Well, 114 days a year can't they just stay in a hotel? Then have their main home and job they work at, like teacher...or in AOC's case, bartender?

Wouldn't this make them even more effective in representing the people? I think it would. If they had to actually be in the rat race too like the rest of us.

Term limits. Age limits. Pay limits. They should not be able to vote themselves pay increases. They should have zero control over their own pay. Any representative of the people with a low approval rating from their constituents should immediately have a recall scheduled for 3 months from that date. If their approval rating does not increase to acceptable levels within that time frame, the recall should proceed.

As long as there is a budget deficit, no politician should be eligible for reelection. As long as there is national debt there should be an annual audit of all federal expenditures that is totally visible to the public. If an agency is found to be missing any significant amount of money or cannot account for any significant amount of money in the audit, the agency should immediately be crushed and scattered to the wind.

Every agency and federal employee should be evaluated by an outside impartial 3rd party for efficiency and necessity. If the agency or position is found to be inefficient and provides nothing of value it should be eliminated immediately.

Any representative of the people found to be taking money from lobbyists should be expelled from congress and banned from ever holding public office again. All blanket patents should be immediately rescinded and any attempt at obtaining a blanket patent should result in a ban on EVER receiving a patent again.

Any representative of the people engaging in giving aid or comfort to our enemies, advocating for the mutilation of children, or attempting to diminish or take away our constitutional rights should face the noose publicly.

Enough games with these people.

So stupid, in fact, instead of a direct democracy we have a special assembly who legally don't have to do what the ballot says and we can't do anything about it. But they promised to honor the will of the public, until they don't, and there's no charges, because it's not prohibited in the Constitution.

By NOT being in session, there are no fences or restraints on the President. Joe Biden would send 2 of your 2024 paychecks to Zelenskyy if Congress didn't restrict him.

I used to think we could get rid of Congress. Now that sentiment has shifted more towards shrinking other areas of the government. For instance, the FBI wants an extra $3 Billion in 2024. Much of it is to construct a new marble and glass headquarters. They Don't Deserve that much more money, imo.

The problem is it poses a serious risk of overcriminalization. Really...think about a bunch of power thirsty idiots obsessed with passing laws, fines, demands for licensure, etc. You have them working any more and all they will do is come up with 365 days worth of what they deem, "well needed laws and regulations." Lets say next year, someone invents a cooklewacker. And it is such a big hit, that more than half the country goes out and purchases a cooklewacker. Thats great and all, but imagine that AND having Congress in session year round. Where there wasn't any issue at all with cooklewacking, with all that time they decide:
-You must be 21+ to own a cooklewacker.
-You must purchase yearly license for a cooklewacker.
-No cooklewacking outside the hours of 6am-9pm.
-All must wear helmet/elbow/knee pads to cooklewack.
-And so on...

Really, those lazy pieces of crap will ALWAYS just keep on legislating and taking control of everything as long as they have nothing better to do. I would say leave then at the current quota of days but slash their salaries in HALF at least since these lazy POSs have NOTHING to show for the last decade other than their losing track of 21 trillion dollars in just 9 months and nobody has any receipts or explanations for where that much money went. If it were up to me though, they'd all pay the ultimate price for such a HUMONGOUS inexplicable "mistake" and then we would revamp the entire Congressional situation since right now, only the most disgusting and greedy criminals get involved in it at all. Plus, a certain party has simply gotten so carried away, we are being lied to, stolen from, and invaded all at once as their voice (ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, Facebook, Instagram, and more) simply says whatever they must to keep the attention and the vote of the low functioning simpletons, who have by FAR become the majority in this nation and who simply can't think for themselves and can only absorb something if one of the aforementioned outlets say so.

Yeah realistically we need a congress, but I feel so disenfranchised and the country seems like it is heading in the opposite direction of everything that I think is reasonable.

I think those sorts of agencies like the FBI, and even NASA, is where the deep state is most deeply infiltrated. If there was ever a candidate that truly threatened some of these powerful agencies, the agency would try their best to stop them. At the very least have an overwatch agency, but then I guess that creates another agency lol.
