Red States and Blue States .

Though really there are very few Actual Blue States “ Massachusetts “ maybe but that’s it . Most “Blue States “ are just Red States with massive “Deep Blue Cities” .

New York City , Los Angeles , San Francisco , Chicago and so on are Blue cities surrounded by mass expanses of Red Rural Areas. Even California the Blue Utopia is just a collection of Blue Cities surrounded by Red Areas.

Most people on ATS understand this but other people could care less about politics and haven't a clue .

But the real reason for this post is to ask a Question.

What happens to the Red States that are being flooded by people from the “ Blue states “ ?

It is no secret People are leaving the “ Blue states “ , But which people are leaving the Blue States ? Are people fleeing the Inner Cities for the Red States ? Or is it the people in the rural areas of the Blue States fleeing to the Red States ?

Do all of the people that are leaving the Blue States bring their Liberal sensibilities and voting habits with them and pollute the Red States ? If so then why leave at all ? If you’re going to leave the very state that your voting habits destroyed only to continue with the same voting habits then OMG kill me now ….

True but none the less Some States consistently vote Democrat and others consistently vote Republican.

If they left with their liberal sensibilities and voting habits, then they likely arrived with them as well. I think the question is what percent of leavers of blue states are liberal voting?

That is the real question .

Logic would say the people leaving are mostly Right Leaning and then again people are Hypocritical and Deluded and unable to admit when they are wrong .....

It would not surprise me if the States people are fleeing to start to look blue over the next decade.

Party Dominance is the Determining Factor there . For Instance , here in N.J. the Dems Hold a Slight Lead in Political Power over Republicans but it is Not Really Due to the Majority of Voters here being Democrats . The Dems are just more Proactive than the Republicans when it Comes to Elections and Voter Turnout . That can Change Over Time if a Real Effort by the People Desire it .

You would think the ones with Liberal voting habits wouldn’t leave because they think everything is going great even when it isn’t.

You assume the liberals leaving are applying logic and sense?

How kind of you Razor....

Didn’t take that long here in AZ. The plandemic produced a massive Californian Migration here on 2020. And what do ya know - AZ flipped from red to blue in that same election year.

Or was it because Hobbs cheated?

Combination of both I’d presume…

There was a short lived movement back in the eighties, maybe early nineties. It was a novel approach to the current system of primary voting and it was based on exactly the premise of this thread, that the metro areas have a vastly different perspective on national priorities.

It recognized how the media covered election primaries and the simple conclusion that those primaries were small city or small state oriented. Iowa caucuses often set the tone for excitement over one or the other candidates. A win there elevated the news reporting which elevated peoples attention to them and likelihood of continued viability. On in to New Hampshire and down to Florida, the trends of public support solidified until the juggernaut of public opinion narrowed down by media coverage to only one or two, and all of it reflecting the butterfly wing flaps of those early primary caucuses.

The idea arouse that those masses of people in the metro areas were not influential enough to counter heavy media coverage of the more rural and country districts and counties and hence under represented in the media driven election cycle.
'
This idea was for metro areas, like the ones mentioned in the OP to organize and hold their own caucuses or non-binding primary voting. For at least as much as the Iowa caucuses represent a true example of the national balance of political perspectives , this program would have elevated the perspectives of the major metro areas to more prominence through media reporting, just as it has done for a decades and decades for the perspective of Iowans.

This idea did not come to fruition, much I am sure, to the delight of conservative America.

I moved my family from a red/purple suburb of a large blue city in California to a red rural suburb in Texas. This is just my observations so far.
The differences are pretty much night and day.
Everything is better here except the weather, which isn’t bad. Im appreciating getting used to having actual seasons.
The laws here are simple and not overbearing.
People are living free from BS and you can tell by their pleasant demeanor.
We’re conservative and believe in our rights and respect the rights of others.
My son is excelling in school despite the enormous degree of change and difficulty in curriculum. They actually teach the three R’s here in these schools. No CRT, no DEI propaganda.
There’s people of all colors here and I haven't seen or even heard of any racist BS.
In local politics the people running for office here are mostly based but there are dems who do run. The locals are informed so they keep an eye on the school board elections and city councils.
The nearest large city’s mayor just changed from a democrat to a republican a few months ago. We will see how that turns out.
It seems the smaller suburban areas with fast growth are more purple/blue than the slower growing areas where I live.
I have to blame that on the people moving out of blue areas bringing their politics and same voting habits with them. I’d guess most of them moved for economic reasons.
They just can’t think that far ahead to realize those same voting habits will ruin this place. It’s like a war of attrition at this point I think.
I don’t personally know any lefties who moved to Texas. The lefties I know who moved from California went to Arizona, Oregon and Washington.
It’s kind of funny when we meet new people here. Talking about where we moved from and why we moved here, they immediately show a sigh of relief that we’re not here to ruin this great place.
We know a few couples who moved to Texas from where we used to live in California. They are all conservative people.
They moved to bluer cities like Houston and Austin. Even though those cities lean left they are still further right than the red/purple California cities surprisingly.
Blue states with a supermajority of lefties like California have such draconian state laws that they affect smaller communities dramatically.
I can see Texas slowly turning blue. The state government does pretty well keeping most BS out but it’s impossible in this day and age.
All I can hope for is that the immigrants, as they get citizenship, actually vote the way they were raised. Most of them are actually conservative people.

Red individuals/families/businesses fleeing Blue States for Red States is a good thing.

The Blue states become worse cesspools.

The Red states gain productive taxpayers.

You hit this correct. There are no color states. It changes w each election...or not.

I've read somewhere, traditional color states have historic repetition...but are no way guaranteed each election, and "rollover" can take as little as 1 or 2 Presidential Admins. It does happen...

Anecdotally;

I have known liberal minded people who leave our blue state for a red state because they can no longer afford to live in our blue staten

And I have know conservative minded people who leave our blue state for a red state because they can no longer stand to live in our blue state.

So I would say it's a mixed bag.
