Not a lot, they can't enforce collection outside of going to war, which would probably be more costly than any potential earnings.

A decent climate, and an ocean between it and the homeland.

"Party membership", for the ambitious, is but a means to greater wealth.

I wonder if Chin is pressing the media to keep this quiet?

More likely not China keeping a lid on this - other countries don't want their peons to get wind of what is to come.

Wasn't the government's crackdown on the real-estate borrowing the direct cause of it? Sure, the developers' debt and home prices were soaring, the supply of new homes exceeded the demand, but the government's measures only worsened the situation instead of curing it.

Xi might not be such an economic genius as Mao Zedong but the Comrade definitely has a vision.

Doesn't the USA owe China a LOT of money? What happens if China calls in their chips?

You stop getting cheap stuff and loans , they would stop the students studying in America cutting of a load of money to the fed .

Far easier for the USA to get them on board and do building projects but it seems that handing a illegal invader 5k on entry , a year's wage to a Chinese construction worker , then paying the illegal 2+ k a month plus expenses to do nothing but mooch is a lot easier for the fed

I just saw a Facebook post of a woman buying groceries in China, it cannot be done without facial recognition.

it is not so much any more. China has been divesting over the last decade. Even if they did though, it would immediately sink dollar value so they would be holding an emptier bag if they called it all due.
