Agreed - surely the US has better politicians than this to offer. I've seens some amazing speeches from Republican and Democrat politicians at the local level by people who clearly cared for America. Biden and Trump are far too old for the position and neither side seem to have any policies or coherrent view for the future of America and only focus on 'i'm not the other guy'.
I challenge her to count how many times Democracy is written in the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, or the Bill of Rights.

After witnessing the last few years what the establishment can do with a candidate they don't approve of why would any of these local politicians ever want to buck the system?

I think it’s obvious Trump is the only politician to face real possibility of politically charged legal problems. It’s hard to say he’s a victim. It’s not like his admin reversed any of these trends, it just so happens he’s the first politician to get caught in the moment of trends already created.
