Apologies for the Yahoo article:

ETA: Forgot the preamble:

A Texas man who filed over two dozen challenges to former President Trump’s ballot eligibility was arrested Tuesday on charges alleging he filed 17 sets of false tax documents to the IRS.

“Castro would promise a significantly higher refund than taxpayers could receive from other preparers and on many occasions, offered to split the additional refund with taxpayers,” prosecutors said in court documents. “In order to achieve these larger refunds, Castro generated false deductions, that were not based in fact, and which were submitted without the taxpayer’s knowledge.”

It's always fascinating to see. Folks completely ignoring their own nefarious deeds while pointing fingers at others as has been a common trope in the past few decades.

“I don’t care if they offered me one day probation and a slap on the wrist in exchange for a guilty plea,” he said. “This is going to trial. I am going to convince all 12 jurors that I am 100 percent innocent and that this is political retaliation.”

This is the delicious irony on top.

The mud is really starting to flow! I think the next 10 mobths are going to be insane; we're all going to get whiplash trying to figure out which way to look next.

Crazy. Lock him up. I worked with a woman who always talked about her 18,000 refunds. Yep a few years later, see her name in the news. She didn't get charged, the accountant did, probably like this guy, but her and her husband had to pay back with interest over 150g. Bet it wasn't fun then.

That's almost like bringing unprecedented RICO charges while actually comitting a RICO offense during the actual trial.

So this guy, Castro, is a tax preparer and he is being charged by the federal government via the IRS for tax fraud.
Do I have this part straight?

He is claiming political persecution. Right? Persecution by the federal government. Must be.

He is anti-Trump I guess by his attempts to keep Trump off the ballot in Texas. Right? Am I on the right track here?

So, if he is so anti-Trump and the federal government is controlled by liberals who hate Trump, why would they be falsely accusing him with federal tax evasion?

Close.

He's filed these cases in multiple states.

Also:

Castro was busted by an undercover police officer, prosecutors outlined, who posed as a customer for his tax services. While a reputable tax preparer promised the undercover agent a $373 tax return, Castro instead claimed he could get $6,007, and offered to split the difference in extra cash.

The tax forms Castro then filed on behalf of the undercover officer contained nearly $30,000 in fraudulently claimed deductions, prosecutors said.

But, you'd know this if you simply read the source...

The one possible benefit I see in Trump is that politicians are finding themselves enforcing some semblance of rules.

I’m not going to act like Trump is the worst offender finally warranting such enforcement. I also won’t pretend he’s completely innocent, thought I’d like to emphasize I doubt he’s modern times biggest offender.

But maybe, just maybe this breaks the seal to create some low bar of going after politicians.

Even if this is some sort of silver lining, it’s still jacked up IMO. Rather than offer some sort of a better option, the establishment is hell bent on a race to the bottom. They provide the absolute bare minimum to beat him, which is perspective based and still ass.

Damn shame really when we think about true enigmas like Perot, Paul, and Saunders. Disagree with their politics, but seemingly genuine human beings.

Rule of Thumb: The more a person accuses others, the more crimes that person has committed.

Think Liz Cheney and Adam Schiff...for starters.

I hear you.

If we were to apply the "Trump Standard" to all politicians. Fine.

Yet we know they wont. Yet the will apply that standard to you, me, folks reading this.....

But that's not how any of this works. All the real information is only in the headline. At least here in Clown World.

Also, this seems like a pretty good case of what I've seen others refer to as the Trump Curse.

How does one guy's wrongdoing exonerate another guy's wrongdoing?

I would think that they have both done wrong?

An excellent observation. Who has the most red on their hands is the most guilty, can therefore be safely disposed of without implicating powerful (dangerous) allies.

One wrong makes a victim. Two wrongs make good television.
