Of course there is nothing wrong with kids working, I did at 15 and so did my 3 kids. However, removing safe guards, not such a great thing. I know here they had a small take out place ignore the rule of a teen worker being alone and at work after 10pm and the girl was shot and killed when someone robbed the place. I would not be comfortable with my kid working until midnight on a school night. One of mine did work at a meat processing plant on weekends at 15, but she was only allowed to bag and tag hams. They strictly monitored it. There were at least 3 deaths in the news last year in Arkansas and Wisconsin of teenagers who were killed by heavy equipment they should not have been using.

I'm not against the laws in place limiting how much a child can work when school is ongoing. Between homework, a sport or after school activity and work, it's hard enough to stay on top of their responsibilities with the work hour limits. No teen should be working with hazardous machinery. For a farm kid, that's up to the family what they teach a kid to do, but at a plant or factory? No.

It appears some states wouldn't mind going back to the days like pictures I've seen. 6 year olds shucking oysters starting at 4am until they go to school at 9am, then back again after school.

Some say kids can know their gender identity and go on the path to gender affirmation care and surgery at young ages. So, looking at it from that point of view, why can't they also get jobs? They're mature enough, after all.

To the coal mines!

The children belong to the State.

The State has handed over decision making to the children and taken it from the parents.

If the kids want to work, let em work.

That’s how it goes now, can’t cherry pick.

I would like to take my kid on home rehabilitation mission trips, but it’s pointless until they are over 16. It’s do to having to confirm to osha / child labor laws. Yet kids on a farm can operate tractors?

Children aged 13 to 16

Children over 13 years and up to the age of 16 are only allowed to use a low-powered tractor either on its own or with a trailed roller or harrow.

Local watering hole has a 17 year old waiting tables. She makes 4200-300 a night. Her friends want jobs making that money but they don't have time. She's ordering a new car so by the time she graduates she'll have it.

It basically comes down to, would you rather have an adult, experienced and mature working a hazardous job, or a minor that's inexperienced and immature working a hazardous job?

Logic would win in this case, but clown world ain't having it.

In a corpratacracy none of that matters. If you can't hire a good clown, then you might have to resort to a local hire.
