What I'm saying is that people who do stupid things tend to win stupid prizes.

And both the swatters and MTG tick that box.

The people who decided to do such a stupid thing obviously thought she was deserving all the same else why do it?

Most of the stories I’ve seen of anyone swatted are those who lean right politically.
If this is so, then which side is more tolerant, and which side is trying to get people killed by cop?

These kids are masters of using backdoor VPNs and all manner of methodologies to cover and mask their tracks online.

I'm still learning about these techniques but the realm of Cybersecuriries is constantly updating and revising itself to keep up with these evil little supergenuises who get there kicks from misusing Emergency Services for their personal amusements.

A kid swatting someone over a screen name that results in a death should face serious reprocussions and a manslaughter charge at the absolute minimum.

There are too many brilliant young sociopaths out there going to extremes over childish tantrums and it needs to be addressed by the parents and authorities.

If you can't play nice with others your toys will be taken away.

Maybe a rehabilitation program and some maturity and guidence from proper authorities will help these little scamps learn to use their powers for good and they will become valuable assets one day.

Based on my Intel burner phones are mostly used by drug dealers and other street level enterprises.

I might be running on outdated information but cell phones are much less effective than the work of some suburban kid with a hardline connection and the power of a traditional computer setup in the privacy of his room.

I know there are folks who are extremely adept with a smartphone so I'm not ruling out the possibily but this type of pranking activity is more common for kids who never leave the comfort of their bedrooms and whose parents are blissfully unaware of what their precious little angels are really up to online.

The last link to Indystar 404'd on me, but I get the gist.

Those links show that who ever is in charge of stopping swatting is failing miserably. The one account they did catch someone was a 12 year old kid out to get Justin Bieber. WTF?

I do wonder if the "fix" for this is going to just be another grab at our privacy rights. Deep down I do not trust either side on this subject. One side does it, the other side complains and then a new law is passed across the political aisle that takes more of our rights away.

The thing is a lot of people in many walks of life use burner phones mate.

From corporate sorts to those who choose to cheat on their spouse, the list is extensive as are the motivations.

It's not just drug dealers and other street-level enterprises.

The fix is to track those down responsible and make an example i should imagine.
