Gone

One would never have known
by the way that I drove,
recklessly through farmed acres,
that it had been my grandmother's car.

Grinning with loud music wailing,
I swerve to miss a tree
after a sharp turn ...
tires skidding over wet blacktop,
then I glance down.

Shrinking suddenly, I spy a glove
wedged between the seats.

An old, small, black,
empty -- woman's glove.

There's so much unsaid and questions that come to mind. But, the only real doubt is if the driver is about to meet his long-lost grandmother... or will she, thorough divine intervention (and that glove), spare him... and the car?
