Actually it's pretty obvious Trump will be the Republican candidate for 2024. Everybody else is jockeying for 2028 at this point. BUT. There's still a possibility that the Democrats lawfare might work and somebody convicts him of a felony and makes him unsuitable to win and forces him to step aside. Hailey is maybe jockeying for VP which would make her a lock for 28 if Trump wins.

As far as the Apocalypse goes this should put the fear of God in everyone.

Matthew 24.

32Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

But it turns out the fig tree is the nation of Israel. And Israel is 75 years old. I'm expecting a temple at any time now.

Thoughts??

- Satanism is a religion and therefore Trump is right.

- The Iowa Satanism display shouldn't be in a government building. No religious display should be.

- Desantis is desperate. He is third in line for the GOP crown. If Trump goes to jail it will be Nicki Haley that is the GOP nomination, not him.

- I didn't watch it. Just getting the gist from your post.

Thanks for your reply. I agree with you on all points.

Satanism is a religion, like any other religion that has a holy text and people who believe in it. It does not matter what people want to believe in, makes no difference if we agree or not. They have a Constitutional right to practice their religion.

Religious displays should not be on government grounds. None of them. Favoring one diminishes others.

DeSantis is desperate. He has been since the summer when his numbers faltered.

You didn't miss much by not watching it. I just wanted to report it as it was fresh for me.

Also, thanks for your thoughtful reply and not attacking right away when some news may be upsetting.

I had to defend the display at the capitol tonight on Facebook...a mason brother posted about it and said it was a disgrace to Christianity and I defended the right for that to be up in the capitol, which basically comes from the foundations of Freemasonry, to encompass all religions and be able to choose what light (or god) you follow. Being the Scottish Rite building here in Des Moines contains symbols and effigies to all religions of the world.

And I agree with the right of all to practice any religion, but a reply down below yours from Flyers brings up a good point: this is on state grounds, government land.

For the very same reason the government can't discriminate against any religion, it also cannot favor any. Allowing one religion to display on state grounds, and not concurrently allowing all others, is in itself discrimination.

I support all religious rights. I do no support government favoritism or intrusion.

I wouldn't call them punches.

DeSantis wears heels.

More like the proverbial handbag.

lol

Also, it's bit too late to start right now, isn't it? Why didn't he start fighting when he was riding high and had good numbers. Now that he's trailing Haley, he suddenly perks up and attacks.

Too little, too late.

You got triggered again, and responded with anger, and off topic. Notice how everyone else, beside you, in this thread is on topic and discussing things without personal attacks.

When you find yourself triggered, don't comment right away... step back and later post a meaningful reply when you can.

What happens in these situations when you don't do that, is you give me a good solid laugh, and then I just turn it around against you and I move on.

A lesson in how to destroy your reputation while riding high into the sun as a governor.

It was those Achilles Heels.

An update on this, before bed.

A couple of days after DeSantis brought up and vilified the Satanic Temple's display at the Iowa capitol, a former GOP candidate decapitated and destroyed the sculpture.

He said it was to “awaken Christians to the anti-Christian acts promoted by our government.”

Link

Deeply un-American.

I don't doubt that Christians feel like they are being attacked, but that is a result of deep and long enjoyed privilege. When you've felt like number one for so long, centuries really, any sense of equality to other religions would feel like an assault to you.

This is how the Constitution works. All religions are equal. All religions have the same rights. None can be discriminated against.

Unless you feel like you're number one and think you deserve special treatment. In that case, criminal acts like these may feel justified.

The former GOP candidate turned himself in to the police and has been charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief.

... OR they are trying for second place in case Trump goes to jail and the GOP need a new candidate.
