When John McCain thumbs downed Obamacare the entire nation should have woken up. Now you have Romney, who RAN as a GOP Presidential Candidate, stating he will vote for Biden. A lot of establishment GOP voted for Biden in 2020.

The US Congress is 90% controlled. The office of the President right now means nothing. At all.

Coal is not going anywhere. This is about talking to the base and making money. Wonder if Hunter will be assigned to one of their boards?

Seriously, Biden is getting to be more like Putin every day. I suspect our boy really likes Putin's style, "Damn the torpedoes, full ahead." A bold urgency outside of normal SOP. As if the world was about to end for some reason. In truth, I also suspect that several governments in the rest of the world have leaders that absolutely know something that the rest of humanity have no clue about and wouldn't believe it until it hits them square in the face. A period of preparation seems to be in operation. The term Alien Invasion is usually taken as a stupid joke. Is it that or a ominous truth? Perhaps a better understanding of the world's transformation to a NWO can be better understood if we call it as it really is, the implementation of the Alien Agenda. --Never hear of it? You will.

The Biden administration had done no such thing.
You apparently don't know how that works, specifically in the credit zone of things. And please don't take offense as it is a kinda niche thing to get.
Energy wise we are doing just fine. Don't allow these tomfoolery news sources fool ya.
They just want views.

they say if you can explain it to a child, then you really understand the topic. Why don't you give it a shot and explain it to us, as if we were children.

OK, I’ll give it a shot.

The NY Post article makes at least 3 claims that are false.

First claim: “Team Biden announced it will stop production of all new coal plants in the United States.”

One problem with this is that the federal government does not make the decisions to produce or not produce coal plants in the US. The individual states and industry makes those decisions. The last major coal-fired power plant to come online was 10 years ago and since that time, the industry has announced zero plans to bring on additional coal plants. As existing coal plants are retired they have been and will continue to be replaced by a combination of wind and solar with battery backup, and gas-fired plants because those options are cheaper. The small modular nuclear reactors that are being developed may also have a role to play. Essentially, the industry got out of the coal plant business a decade ago.

Second claim: "Eliminating methane is a de facto ban on natural gas power plants."
The problem with this statement is that the guy who wrote the article—Steve Moore—is either too dumb to understand what was actually being proposed or does understand what is being proposed and is lying about it. The Biden proposal is NOT to eliminate methane (natural gas) as a fuel. The proposal is to eliminate unintentional methane leaks from the production of power because raw methane is a more powerful greenhouse gas than the CO2 that is produced when it is burned. In most cases, that requires technology no more complicated than a pipe wrench to keep fittings tightened. And since methane is actually a valuable commodity, it’s in the interests of the power companies to stop pissing it away into the atmosphere.

Third claim: "These regulations will cause rolling blackouts and brownouts across the country, much like we’ve already seen in California — America’s forerunner of radical anti-fossil fuel policies."

As a long time California resident this is a topic I know something about from personal experience. It is an observational fact that since the year 2000 the reliability of electric power availability in the state has become crappy--to use a technical term. I now will experience more power interruptions in one year than I experienced in all my years leading up to 2000. But the reasons for that unreliability have absolutely zero to do with anti-fossil fuel policies. In fact, none of the many blackouts and brownouts have been caused by lack of generating capacity. Earlier this year we had a run where all the power needs of the State were supplied by wind and solar with no need for natural gas.

The blackouts of 2000-2001 were caused by power companies like Enron, who had figured out how to manipulate the market to gouge customers during manufactured outages. They would sell California power out of state to create an artificial shortage and then buy power back from out of state, which they could sell to customers at a much higher rate because there was an “emergency” that they created.

The more recent outages (the last 10 years or so) have predominantly been caused by the rickety and dangerous powerline system that Pacific Gas and Electric uses. California is a big state, with a lot of it covered in grasslands and woodlands. We also have a Mediterranean climate, which means that it rarely rains between about May and November. That means that the fire season extends from at least June through October. During peak fire season, the tiniest spark can start a massive wildfire. For example, the fire that annihilated the town of Paradise in the Sierra foothills in 2018 was started by a PGE power line blown loose from the tower by the 50 mph winds howling down slope. The insurance payout from that fire bankrupted PG&E. In response to that event, PG&E has taken two actions. On really hot summer days when the forests and grass is bone dry and there are high winds, they will preemptively shut off entire circuits (usually in the Sacramento Valley area). In other areas (like where I live) they will set the circuit breakers at their maximum sensitivity level so that if a tree branch happens to bump up against a power line, the circuit will go off line instantly. If a squirrel farts in the wrong direction, the circuit breaker will trip. PG&E can’t afford to burn another town down or the State might finally take away their monopoly. So they simply don’t deliver power when they think it’s too risky. Theoretically, they are implementing a plan to underground most of their power lines, but that ain't gonna happen real soon.

That’s why there are frequent brownouts and blackouts in California. It has nothing to do with how the electricity is produced.

Fun fact.

When California decreed gas engines to be kaput in a decade or so, that same week they told EV owners in the state to not charge their vehicles as it was taxing the grid.

Pretty neat.

Claim 1 - A coal powered plant came online in 2018 and was the first since 2015.

Claim 2 - Methane is a by-product of Natural Gas. So, the article is not incorrect stating that. Now, what it should discuss is how a ban on oil and natural gas development on public lands kills and entire market for jobs and less government control.

Claim 3 - Infrastructure needs to be updated and should instead of trying to half convert to other methods to be green. You have to take care of what is there before you can move forward. Let's see what happens this year with skyrocketing prices to heat homes and the blackouts that will occur.

I don't know about that. The Biden Admin wants to be totally rid of coal. That's 20%. And they want to get rid of methane producers which is natural gas and that's 40%. That's a total of 60%. The numbers add up. Solar and wind can't make up for that.

I wouldn't worry too much about our electric grid. China has been supply the large transformers for our power grid for a couple of decades now, even though hidden back doors were discovered in them.

There are more than 200 of these large Chinese transformers in our electric grid today

[cmsedit.cbn.com...]

It's not like any administration has been unaware of the problem, either; they've been kicking this can down the road for a long time.

“Deployment of utility-scale solar and wind technologies in remote areas is likely to require ultra-high-voltage transmission lines to move the power to cities. China is the world’s leading supplier of advanced grid components for ultra-high-voltage systems, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and inverters, which we assess creates cyber vulnerability risks.”
“The problem is that we are importing transformers and equipment from the People’s Republic of China to install in our critical electric infrastructure that the Chinese government is already hacking,” Mabee explained. “This creates a massive cyber vulnerability for the United States. As far back as 2003, Congress expressed concern about China conducting ‘coordinated cyber reconnaissance’ and ‘probing’ U.S. electric utilities in a hearing entitled: ‘Implications of Power Blackouts for The Nation’s Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection,’” he added.

It seems there are way to many chefs in the kitchen....

The critical electric sector is made up of about 3,000 entities, both public and private sector, involved in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity. The regulatory structure is complex with over 60 public and private sector regulators involved, including the Department of Energy (DOE), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and state public utility commissions (PUCs).

[industrialcyber.co...]
President Trump banned the use of Chinese equipment for use in critical infrastructure, which was one of the first EO's Biden overturned.

When (not if) the grid goes down I bet it will be attributed to a 'natural event', like a massive CME, but as with Covid 19 it will come at a critical time for political power and control over the masses.

The globalist with their green agenda to enslave humanity are running out time, they want things done yesterday, and is no happening, in US Americas are not taking very kindly the push at all.

That is not enough, they need to use the full power of the puppet they manage to prop in as president to finish the job.

The only have one year left.

Things are going to get very interesting in the coming months.

Maybe Obama and Xi (China) told Joe they'd ensure he wins in 2024, like they did in 2020.

We have some nuts without the ability of rational thinking at the head of our country. There is no way in hell we could switch even sixty percent of our electric generation over to solar and wind in the next five years without drasticly reducing how much power people are allowed to use in their homes.

No more computer technology, no toasters, restricted meters that only allow a small amount of power consumption a day. To promote this, Harris and Biden will be flying all over the world to brag about their accomplishment of destroying the lives of our citizens.

First claim: “Team Biden announced it will stop production of all new coal plants in the United States.”

One problem with this is that the federal government does not make the decisions to produce or not produce coal plants in the US.

You are wrong.

The Federal government through the EPA absolutely makes the decisions on if a coal plant or a wellsite or anything to do with hydrocarbons produces or not in the US.

What they do is make the emissions requirements so stringent that it is impossible to turn a profit on the venture.

That's what American Progressives do... they don't outright own the means of production like communist countries do.

No. What they do is own the means of production through fiat... through legislation.

Do you think that "green" energy and hydrocarbon energy, if treated equally, could compete in the energy market?

The answer is no... absolutely not.

Second claim: "Eliminating methane is a de facto ban on natural gas power plants."
The problem with this statement is that the guy who wrote the article—Steve Moore—is either too dumb to understand what was actually being proposed or does understand what is being proposed and is lying about it. In most cases, that requires technology no more complicated than a pipe wrench to keep fittings tightened. And since methane is actually a valuable commodity, it’s in the interests of the power companies to stop pissing it away into the atmosphere.

As someone who ran for almost two decades a "green" solution to just burning methane through the wellsite flares and the resulting tax burden the wellsites had to pay for, which was passed on to the consumer as oil and gasoline and propane prices, your staggering ignorance on the topic is insulting.

Third claim: "These regulations will cause rolling blackouts and brownouts across the country, much like we’ve already seen in California — America’s forerunner of radical anti-fossil fuel policies."

Almost factual but still a lie.

Your entire secondary source of power in California is provided to you by hydroelectric dams in Montana and Idaho. Transmission of that is crappy because of the length of the lines. The power needs of California at the time were met by hydroelectric from other states.

But you keep being you...
