Mystery in Cisco Grove: Don Shrum’s Encounter with UFOs, Aliens and Robots In September 1964, Captain McLeod and Sergeant Barnes were dispatched from Wright-Patterson Air Force base in Ohio. They were sent to investigate a UFO sighting in Northern California. Wright-Patterson AFB got lots of UFO reports. 99% of them could be explained. And a sizeable percentage of those sightings were hoaxers looking for attention. The other 1% were classified as UFOs and sent on to Project Blue Book. What happened from there, McLeod didn't know. The fact that he was being sent to the other side of the country meant this sighting was important to the Air Force. McLeod had a copy of the teletyped report from the UFO tracking office. It was stamped with an unusual "Priority" notification. It read: "UFO landing with entities reported by missile technician in Tahoe NF, Sacramento. Orders: Investigate and contain via usual protocols ASAP." McLeod's first step was to interview the witness. And, even after 17 years as an investagator, this was strangest UFO story he'd ever heard.

In 1964 my father worked at the same Aerojet facility. The plant was located in Rancho Cordova, CA, about 11 miles east of Sacramento. It was not a nuclear facility: Aerojet designed, tested, and manufactured rocket motors and systems for both NASA and the military. The nearest AF base would have been Mather AFB, not McClellan, although McClellan would have been a "straight shot" down Interstate 80 from the Cisco Grove campgrounds, about an hour and a half east of the base. Mather was a Strategic Air Command (nuclear weapons) base.

Never heard of this case before. My father was in the computer systems division, but I am sure there would have been "scuttlebut" around the water-coolers.

As it so happens, I currently live just a few miles from that same facility.

And I have been involved with the aerospace industry myself, as I've detailed in other threads.

Never seen a UFO/UAP myself.

Compartmentalisation a bitch, and I guess it comes with the profession you are more apt to identify the Areal phenomenon...

Thanks for the post relating this WF episode.

This is a bizarre and fascinating UFO tale I never heard.

What a terrifying scenario! Damn if that experience isn’t one of the more intriguing and long-lasting encounters.

Never heard of this before. I actually live within a few miles of Mather AFB, and about 30 or so minutes from Cisco Grove, which I've stopped at for snacks and gas on the way to Lake Tahoe or Reno

Was a short episode, was "ok". Kinda filler material for the George Snoory Fans. Myself i wholeheartedly miss Art Bell but im glad you aka Gino and A.J. do what your doing because C2Cam lost alot of followers when Art left. Id love for you guys to have or invite George Knapp on to the show. a reply to: 727Sky
