What's ironic is that it will be DEMOCRATS hammering President Trump and the Republican Congress to extend the puny little tax cuts for another 7 years.

That puny amount for me has been about 6k.

Why does the government push for 15 hour minimum? More Taxes. Do any of you really think it is a live changer now to go from 12 to 15 or even 20 an hour. No.

How many jobs will be lost?

Jobs? Most of them (federal work force) are just leeches on the taxpayers.

The tax cuts are not "puny".

It's MY MONEY!

There weren't really any tax cuts unless you make over $200k a year. Less came out of our checks, but we paid for it when we filed taxes.

If we keep electing the same uniparty they’ll keep increasing spending.

The spending increase has been a constant, there’s been plenty of tax cuts in between.

Unfortunately they have to go up unless congress can reduce spending.

The irony.

Those that are ostensibly there to represent the voters will not, as a long standing principle, not reduce spending and also increase taxes.

It’s the same outcome either way.

One reduces taxes and increases spending, and one increases taxes and spending.

The former forces printing of money which causes inflation (hidden tax), the latter pisses off the public leading to the former. Rinse and repeat. Decades of trends support that theory.

No.

My checks were bigger and what I got back after filing taxes was better, though not much but that's because I work with my accountant and make sure I get to keep almost everything.

I hate giving the government a no-interest loan.

I was happy to get the the tax break, but now I am worried I am going to be hit hard while the wealthy and the corporations have been given permanent protection.

Why couldn’t Trump have made both permanent or at least protected the individual people better?

12 to 15 is a 20% increase

12 to 20 is a 40% increase

So I’d imagine it would be a difference. Though, we could argue the cost of goods would go up if all employers paid people more.

I was a young adult before Obama. I can tell you the prices of things that mattered at the time.

I could get 80/20 ground beef on sale for 99¢ a pound at the time. A 24 rack of cheap beer for $9.99. A pack of Marlboros (albeit in VA a big producer) for $2.50. Rent was $850 For a decent 1br apartment, $650 all in with utilities if you had roommates.

Rent alone is 1,000 plus utilities if you’re alone, and roommates or family you’re not really getting much of a discount because of single family house prices.

Food is much more, but wages/salary for jobs outside of tech haven’t changed much, or at least at pace with purchasing power.

I myself have done well, and I’m not too worried about my future. But I’d be lying if I said things haven’t gotten worse, or the difference of 20-40% wasn’t a big deal for people living paycheck to paycheck.

It's really about Congress and people just want to reelect the same duds decade after decade, so we do it to ourselves. There isn't anything to bitch about it all as we do not want to change.

How can any person with the intelligence of a potato or greater, choose Joe Biden over any Republican candidate?

My point was it does not allow them to break out of the economic cycle they are in. If you have a job and get no assistance from the government you cannot live on 15 an hour. It was for tax purposes. However, most of them can do Sec 9 and get EBT,etc.

A person making 18 did not got to 21. But a person making up too about 23 an hour single with two kids. This is all what you consider lower class now. Imagine a family of four making 50k a year is eligible for EBT and other things.

It is all about killing the middle class. Those people did not get raises but it is their taxes that pay for the benefits that those below them use who ALSO pay taxes.

Bottom line. It is all about taxes. Record Taxes taken in.

I can tell you that with the Trump Tax cuts you could make up to about 17 an hour and you paid no Federal Income Tax. Corporate Tax was also lower but bringing in more because of production and jobs coming back to America. First week Biden got rid of all of it.

When people are living paycheck to paycheck, not living outside their means and making 100k a year there is a major prblem.

Wait till the CC companies cry bankrupt after this Christmas....

It's interesting they looked at every word or movement Trump made ready to scream the 25th and here we have old Joe... OMFG

People are in total deniability. I know really smart people who still take jabs at Trump, and I just say that with old Joe in office, they have nothing to talk about, and they look at me strangely saying with 100% belief there is nothing wrong with Joe. They say the economy is great, or world politics is fine, the border is perfect, no issues with drugs, homelessness, crime, the woke...it goes on and on.

It's like they are now living in this perfect world as the world burns down around them and they can't see it. There isn't even a debate in it all as they can't even suggest the economy sucks even a little to start something off at least.

You can easily live on 15 per hour, my first question is why are you only making 15 per hour? Now if you also have 4 kids I might ask why have you been having kids and only make 15 per hour, and so on and so forth, but 15 per hour is doable.
