From one of the articles I found . . .

Heine also indicated that “the FBI’s aggressive ‘investigation’ only resulted in a misdemeanor conviction against the boy for breach of peace, but financially devastated the family with substantial legal expenses.”

This had nothing to do with being Catholic IMO. The kid was becoming a menace and making threats likely due to his home environment. How Catholic is this family? Are they devout Christians? Obviously not. It would be like calling me a Mormon because I was a member of the LDS church when I was a kid even though I never attended and left the church years ago.

i was just fixing to post that.

there is no way in hell in this day in age that a 15 year old whether goaded or not didn't know that what he was doing would lead to this or was wrong to be posting it. you read and hear about it all the time. and he was even told in the chat room to be careful about what he posts. unless he was a complete imbecile he should have known better.

he apparently already had some sort of predisposition to the his racist, bigoted, antisemitic beliefs. no telling where he picked it up, on line, school, or friends, or more than likely from his father who more than like was indoctrinated while in prison into some sort of nazi, racist, ideology, and passed it on to his kids.

Yeah, is getting shadowy a lot, I will bet he was been primed to become a mass murdered at some point in his life.

Very sad, it does not sound like a good Christian family at all.

What I do not understand is why they are demonizing Christianity and calling this the article a "Devote catholic family", is a lot going on with this article.

I feel this can be classified as a Ludicrous Online Lie at this point.

Seems he was arrested for being a Nazi and planning terror attacks rather than posting memes.

Not sure how they can be considered 'traditional catholic' given the father being convicted of stealing and son planning to murder jews and commies.

Yep. Free speech does indeed have its limits. This is just typical conservative victim complex.

Free speech should not have limits.

Sticks and stones and all.....

Incorrect. Would you feel the same if this were a little Muslim feller threatening to shoot up a Christian church?

Las Vegas teen arrested for terroristic threats linked to ISIS, explosive components found at home

On Nov. 28, 2023, Las Vegas police identified a terroristic threat made on a social media platform. The threat involved a suspect claiming he was planning an attack in Las Vegas in furtherance to support the Islamic State terrorist organization, also known as ISIS.

No one should be denied their free speech, that's for sure. But, sometimes what you say could have severe consequences.

Memes are speech.

This is America, we have an inalienable right to free speech.

Then surely pornography is speech. Just people expressing their approval for particular lifestyles.

... or pedophilia.

... or murder.

- All just the free expression of opinion.

Under no circumstance should this be tolerated. Everyone should be outraged and concerned about this.

Speech involves sound being produced from the vocal cords.

The FBI shouldn't be politically motivated, at all.

It could be worse, could be one of those pray the gay away churches in which kids became either violent or suicidal. Forced into a religion is always pretty terrible but if one has a mind of themselves when older can always choose to change that. Being forced into something can make people do really strange things as you know.

The problem is that there was an FBI response at all.

They are policing speech with your money and consent.

Yes. I do feel the same.

Free speech is not to protect what you like, it is to protect what you don't like.

And I would expect that the FBI would pull a Muslim family out their house the same way if they threatened to shoot up a church.

Whatever.

I'm not in charge of their policies so quit talking to me as if I'm in charge of fixing the issue.

You don't pay me enough.

They likely stopped another mass shooting before it happened. Every time, when the FBI already has someone like this on their radar, then they kill a bunch of people we're like "why didn't they do something?"

They did something. But since it's a white, Christian conservative, you're mad about it.

It's the language. It appears that calling a terroristic threat a meme was just a flaming tool.

I don't think it's the white, Christian conservative angle that has people upset.

It's the story that the FBI seemingly goaded the youth into becoming radicalized. Than swatted with no more proof than what they themslves helped create.

To be clear I don't know much about this story to know if the latter is true; but its clear that it is what is making people upset ... and the FBI unfortunately have a track record of doing so.

Specific threats are different from memes or even pictures with guns.

There were specific threats. Complete with planned dates and locations.

And the FBI has not been known to fabricate such evidence?

I thought the argument is the FBI radicalized the teen; driving him to create the evidence. Much more interesting than the FBI fabricating it then selves.
