Israeli Spy Who Served 30 years in US Prison Calls for Hostages' Families to Be Silenced, Arrested

This Jonathan Pollard fella, the guy who did 30 years in prison for selling US secrets to Israel wants the families of the hostages in Hamas custody to stfu, ASAP! His reasoning is it inhibits their ability to wage battle against Hamas because it feeds into their public relations operations. Allegedly he refused an earlier release date years ago because he did not want any Palestinians to be freed on his behalf.

Jonathan Pollard, who spent 30 years in prison on espionage charges and was released in light of intensive public and diplomatic efforts, called for the families of hostages to be silenced, including by imprisonment, in a video with Machon Shilo on Wednesday.

Pollard called the ceasefire and hostage release deal a "monstrous blunder."

"When we declared war, the first thing that the government should have done was declare a state of national emergency and told all of the hostage families 'you will keep your mouths shut or we will shut them for you'," said Pollard to Rabbi David Bar-Hayim. "You will not interfere in our management of this war. You will not be used by the international community or by our own leftists who managed the [Gilad] Schalit deal as a weapon against us. If that means imprisoning to silence certain members of the hostage families then so be it."

The released spy referred to the posters of hostages being held by Hamas as "poison darts in our ability to wage total war against our enemies."
Pollard compared the situation with the hostages to a submarine which is damaged and the captain is forced to seal off a section with people in it in order to save the rest of the vessel.

Pollard added that, while he was in prison, he had opposed a proposal by the US to release him in exchange for Israel releasing Palestinian prisoners as a gesture to the Palestinian Authority.

The more interesting thing that he claims which got my attention, was that after the cease fire the US and UK may attempt to coerce Israel into ending their operation. This is about the only thing I can say would be a big mistake. Israel has done a good job of establishing zone of control, as illustrated by this recent graphic. To roll it back now would be a big mistake.

The released spy asserted that Hamas intends to drag out the hostage exchange and ceasefire as long as possible in order to rearm and warned that as soon as the hostages are released, the US will increase pressure on Israel and force an end to the war.
Pollard stated that if he had a child fighting in Gaza now, he would tell them to drop their weapons and come home. "The casualties that we are incurring right now are pointless. The future is quite discernable. We will not be allowed to destroy Hamas."

Although he is no fan of Netanyahu or any of the political parties in Israel.

The guy clearly has a Cold and calculating view of the War and how it should be handled and that's not really surprising coming from a guy that sat in Prison for 30 years.

He makes a lot of good points and I agree with the guy on many of them but He will find no support in the Media or Society for that matter.

People can't handle this kind of thinking .

That mentality is typically how discussions within the senior intelligence agencies go down. if it sounds absolutely appalling and horrible, they have probably already discussed it in a very serious and mellow demeanor as this fellow has.

Just a car bomb here, a kidnapping there, some drugs in that neighborhood and voila! means to an end complete.

Sounds like 30 years in prison made him a better person.

who cares and why? If he was good at his job he wouldn't have been in jail, also the supposed secrets he sold, we gave isreal anyways. The country that is as small or smaller than new jersey can't make their own F-16s anyways. His opinion of war means nothing, his honor is nil he's a thief, poor sod has no where to call home, he did it to himself.

I think it helps gather insight into the mindset that operates in the intelligence community, and help better reflect whether the taxpayers there share those values. He was an asset that got caught and is still alive. He must have some kind of value to their agency.
