Five people including a five year old girl were hospitalised after a stabbing in Dublin City centre that the Garda (Police) are not currently treating as terrorism. It seems passers-by assisted in restraining the attacker, reportedly a male who also sustained some injuries.

The Taoseach (President) Leo Varadka has blamed the violence on a "lunatic far right element."

Edit: I just realised I've put this in the wrong forum. I apologise.

Its now far right to not want your children to be stabbed.

These politicians need to take a good long look at themselves.

The fact that term far right is being bandied about in itself suggests something. In Dublin there is the same sentiment as seen elsewhere. Ordinary people are angry at the perception that those arriving illegally are being housed in hotels at a massive daily cost to the tax payer. Already overstretched public services are being pushed to breaking point are two of the main agitating factors.

There is also the so called cost of living crises. Angry people who are tired of being called bigots and racists because they are concerned for their communities and scared for the safety of their mothers, wives and daughters. Wether or not things are actually so bad is not the issue. It is the perception of the situation that leads to scenes like those in Dublin tonight.

And the correct response is this? Attacking police, terrorizing people, destroying buildings and burning down vehicles?

Ireland is a powder keg waiting to explode. Their government has allowed unrestricted immigrants (mainly Africans) into the country. I thought the UK was bad but Ireland and the Irish are truly suffering.

Looks like your standard fiery but mostly peaceful protest to me.

I don't know any more than anyone else on here about what is going on in Dublin and its causes....but unfortunately as soon as the 'authorities' and MSM start screaming about 'far-right' anything I'm immediately suspicious about their motivations and it makes me suspect that its people pissed off about open-door immigration and the effects it is having on our communities.

I may well be wrong and if I am I'll be the first one to admit it.

No I don't believe it is the correct response but I'm not so sanctimonious that I can say I'm surprised by it.

The comments by Freeborn, Crazyseed and SprocketUK are succinctly on target. The term far right is always immediately deployed when anyone expresses even the remotest level of concern about open door/ illegal immigration.

The days of trotting this out to try and stifle any questioning of the "immigration good no matter the price" are coming to an end and that is what I suspect we are seeing the beginnings of in Dublin.

100k immigrants to Ireland in 12 months, thats a huge amount.

Scanned a couple articles about the attack 3/4 coverage of the riot after... rest about the attack (just a quick search) and nothing about the attacker.

Then immediately scream far right, yea open borders reaction since the govt just says stop being racist rather than listen to the people.

Problem I see is Irish seem to be getting mad, they might not wait till elections to make changes.

It has always seemed to me that the best course of action is to go after or eliminate the source of the problem. That would be the politicians and their handlers at the WEF/UN I think.

Neca eos omnes, Deus sous agnoscet.

Damn near everyone in Europe is “far right” by their standards since just about everyone is sick and tired of having to shoulder the colossal burden (both social and economic) that providing for these migrants places on them. Especially when they refuse to integrate, learn the language, do anything even remotely productive and take full advantage of every conceivable welfare program. Not to mention they get given welfare and benefits unavailable to actual citizens.

These days, to the collectivists, we are far right.

They’ve gone so batsh!t left they can’t see centre anymore.

Are you in Ireland?

ETA: Canada had 437,180 immigrants last year alone and it’s still going strong, has been for years. We have a population of 38 million.

I have several students, North and South in Ireland and a good mix of Catholics and Protestants.
I can tell you, right across the board, that they are sick to the back teeth with immigrants.
One told me, just this last Tuesday, that in Belfast where she lives, cleaners are now refusing to go into the hotels where immigrants are 'housed', not so much because they refuse to clean up the excrement and even blood on walls and furniture, but also because they feel unsafe and threatened. She says there are groups of Irish men now 'patrolling' to keep an eye on immigrants, to protect their communities. This lady used to work in the prison service btw.
It's a powder keg for sure both North and South of the border.
