WHY are some threads closed and some are not? WITH NO REASON GIVEN OR IMAGINABLE?

who decides what is relevant as well as whom finds relevance?

going by ATS recent history and craziness as of late...I think that thread has a lot of relevance.

There have been dozens of threads on the topic that aren't two years old. Ownership changes, the site changes, and any one of the other threads discussing the topic are more relevant. I'm just explaining why I think the thread was closed. I don't know; I'm just a lowly member.

it would seem that reading and comprehension skills are one of your short comings

it plainly says that

what part of Owners can reopen should they need to reply do you not understand?

mods and owners have the power. they can open and close threads without giving any reason in the thread.
they will not most times discuss it in thread, they may if your the author through pm"s. sometimes you can read the thread and tell why it was closed.

it's not like you owed anything reason, and your always free to leave if you don't like it.

ETA: another thing if you haven't read in any of the other threads after the crash, there was no contact between the owners and mods for months, since june.

Closed threads are only discussed by the mod who closed them, and the member who composed it.

I think that it is because those particular owners are AWOL. Therefore the threads discussing them are no longer relevant.

The site is orphaned, waiting for the 18th May 2024 at 11:00 pm, when the registration of the domain will expire and the people who had secure and locked-down commercial ownership over the domain won't be there to extend its life.

In the past, we used to close threads not because of relevance, but due to duplicates.

We can't have 100 discussions going on that are identical.

Many times newer members haven't seen the previous discussion and post new ones.

Primarily it was first posted, is not locked, duplicates after would be. That's how we did it when I was still a super.

However things have changed a few times since those days.

And there is an explanation in the thread the OP linked.

Most threads are not blindly closed.

And, in many cases, the specific reason for thread closures and removals is a private matter between the OP and stsff.
