Myla’s heart was still pounding from the forbidden dream she'd had, and the consequential jolt through her head gave her a throbbing headache.
She’d pay dearly for that dream for months to come, but for now was focused on hauling herself out of bed and to the disinfectant chamber for a
shower. She had to wait for one of the roommates to finish. She was in no real hurry.
Everyone is supporting the Faldlanders today in their bloody skirmish against a menacing and encroaching neighbor, so she had to grab the yellow and
blue skirt to rep their flag and show her support. Masks are back on for today, a vaxx patch on the chest to show she’s complied with the medical
authorities’ weekly requirements, the lbgtq2ispy@a*mczx🐶uivr+++++++++++++++ flag on her hat, and ready to go she stepped out.
It’s springtime so she’d have to be extra careful to control her thoughts. Any diversion from the norm and there’s consequences. Myla focuses on
the approved song of the month and hums its deliriously vapid lines over and over again. This keeps her in check, though she has other ways as well.
Mostly the less one sees, the less of a chance to have an original thought, so she focuses on the ground in front of her. The owners of the passing
feet she sees are doing the same.
“In tolerance we trust.” Myla drones the pledge to the lbgtq2ispy@a*mczx🐶uivr+++++++++++++++ flag as she enters the center. Today’s
reeducation will obviously address Myla’s non-conformist dream world. She hopes she learns this time; it took every strategy in her book to avoid
negative anti-authoritative thoughts during the lockdown and worm diet prescribed last time. At least it wasn’t the euthanasia capsule. She steps
into her cell and sits on the icy bench.
A painful screeching voice came through a speaker on the ceiling:
“Myla, it took humanity thousands of years to finally be freely accepted for their authentic selves. Unfortunately, there have always existed those
who will deny others their entitlements, so the State finally had to take matters in their hands and regulate virtue.
We employ the latest technology to calculate the proper and moral ways of thinking and being, and tolerate no deviance. You no longer need to wrestle
with tricky moral dilemmas, nor do you have the option to subvert the good of mankind and State anymore. Most citizens find this a win-win.
But there are those who refuse to assimilate, whose “authentic self” is antithetic to others. You have shown time and again to oppose the State,
both subconsciously and overtly. We catch every thought, Myla, and you have not bought in.
We have no choice but offer you the good way out or the hard way. We hope you choose the EuCapsule, preceded of course by a public apology, as
approved by the Central Virtue Association, but the State always offers options.
Let us know by noon.”
Myla made the first authentic choice of her life just then. She steeled herself for what was to come.

Thanks for reading, Encia! I don't think people would stand for a future like this, but I do think it would be the natural outcome of a future like
Schwabby (in video above) envisions with the help of a few more generations raised by social media.
Yes, the TPTB don't even need to try; through cellphones, people readily and willingly carry around the device that will brainwash and reprogram their
minds.
Hopefully, as you say, people will wake up and react...
