Thanks for the post, S&F. I used to go out to eat often. It is very rare for me to do so anymore. I just can't afford it anymore. Living in a condo, and had to have roof replaced in my building due to summer storm damage. Our monthly maintenance fee is going up another $20/month, after a $25/month increase about a year ago. Property taxes too. I'm just doing everything I can do to keep my head above water. I was grocery shopping today, and bought two boxes of cereal among other things. The two boxes of cereal alone cost over $10.00. I don't want to even think about my electric bills for the winter. I have electric baseboard heat, and it's damn expensive. I may have to cut back on food to pay my electric bill. Inflation is out of control. Thankfully I don't have any Christmas shopping to do. None of our family gets together for the holidays anymore.

There are those who have it way worse. I'm grateful to have a roof over my head, heat, food, and clothes. As much as I miss my husband, part of me is glad he doesn't have to see how bad things have gotten.

I don’t know where you are but I did read we are going to have a mild winter in the Midwest, I hope the same for you. My daughter also has baseboard heat and she is near Canada so you can imagine the heating costs!
Cereal has had major shrinkage too, same box half the product.

You are very right, no matter how good or bad, someone has it worse and we should be grateful.

I'm in Wisconsin. I also heard we will have a mild winter. So far, weather has been pretty good. Almost got to 60 today. I was able to turn off my heat, hopefully will be able to keep it off the next few days.

I feel for those who are living in places where they have to use their heat a lot. I think about the fact that at least I don't live in Alaska or North Dakota or Maine.

"I'm not going to tone myself down" "

LOL we really wish you would though. Most people think your threads are a joke we we read them for the LULS. But I'm glad you have a handful of people who truly appreciate your charm, wit, and unwavering insights. Not to mention your highly attuned superpower of smell that we all just can't wait to read about for the 1000th time. You Jag are simply a marvel to us all would you like us to bow down now or later?

"I also won't vilify what I've rightly earned in my life through hard work"

Nah, that's just where the humble bragging comes in.

Didn't do a full quote of your slightly less than epic rant because it got boring.

Something is wrong with you... you should probably get it checked out.

It's called envy.

Most of us have had our high and low times in life.

For instance, I'll never have to work again and own more property than my small town has in its city limits.

I've also been homeless.

Most of us can see both sides instead of just disparaging another because own your personal circumstances apparently suck.

Get a second or third (or possibly one) job and work your ass off.

That's what most Americans do.

Most people here also think that her posts are informative about what she is going through right now, personally.

You don't even read them for the LULZ... they appear to piss you off.

Envy.

I was happier when I was homeless.

You also not only insulted me but assumed my situation which you know nothing about,

But it’s ok for you to insult me and my situation? Uh huh.
Lot’s of people can dish it but can’t take it, and you appear to be one of those.

Yes this is a conspiracy site but this is also a gathering of the water cooler in a way.
Some don’t partake in it. As I’ve said if you don’t like it, nobody is forcing you to read it.
You don’t even have to open my post.

But deep down, something must draw you to my posts, since you know so much about them/me.
Just admit it, you love them too

I wasn’t homeless but very near it & that was when apartments were $300 a month! Things sure were more simple then.

WE actually ate out twice this month. We went to a local Hong Kong Buffet, and also to Hardies. We blew all of our eating out money for the month already.

We did just buy our half head of beef today, it was a big half, 394# hanging weight. With rising prices, it was over two grand. WE got an eighty two percent after processing this time, which was pretty good. Only hang nine to ten days this time. So, Burger and better ran about seven bucks a pound and short ribs, and meaty soup bones were about four bucks a pound I figure....plus marrow bones and offel meats were around three fifty in my price figures. It is a grassfed organic animal from someone we know, and a local meat processing plant cuts and wraps everything..

I Like the liver, and I actually found a way to make delicious fried breaded kidney now. Got to use up last years tongue yet, going to boil it, skin it, and give it to my son-in-law to make tongue tacos out of....he came from California, an import from Guatamala. He makes good tacos, but has no time to boil the tongue. I will need to go try some there. My granddaughter also liked making tongue tacos, but she is gone now.

The heart makes great meatloaf and also makes real good smoked beef jerkey.

I have known for years now that the liver helps with my old eyes focusing or something, but it appears the kidneys also possess that property. Braunsweiser also helps, but the sulfites and nitrites in that do have some negative effects on me if I eat it often.

For Christmas every year for the last twenty five years, I have given beef for presents to my relatives.

I will not say that I was happier then...

But the situation was a lot less stressful.

Amen to that. You do you, JAG. No one is forced to read your comments.

You are a brat, though

I do enjoy having money and nice things but back in my hippie days with nothing but a rust bucket pickup truck, a hound dog and a guitar. Busking on the street, meeting beautiful people, and traveling this beautiful country with nothing but time.

When I look back on my life, that was my favorite moments. Working as a craftsman/potter in my studio came in a close second. Product designing for a firm was agony. And now late in life, blessed to have a creative gig once again.

I am guessing that by the end of this decade, the price of beef will be way too high to do it anymore. Once the cows farts are taxed, I will no longer be able to afford to give it for presents. We will be eating ground up bugs with some bovine cell grown in a lab by 2030 unless you are rich enough to afford regular burger.
