It’s the left that wants to keep changing the rules and trying to take rights away everytime they get the power.

The Right keeps saying this.

I see the opposite.

You haven't "fact slapped' anyone.

The USA has an Electoral College. That keeps your worrisome mob, that you're so afraid of, at bay.

This election, however, the one we're talking about, is the kind where every voting Ohioan got a direct-democracy, equal say in whether or not their state constitution should enshrine a woman's right to reproductive choice. Direct democracy overwhelmingly showed that when the abortion is left to the people, time and time again, they vote to keep abortion legal and safe.

Once again, my ultimate point in all of this is that by pursuing measures that the majority of the population has already expressed they don't support, the GOP are only hurting themselves.

Do you disagree with that sentiment?

Yes, Some Republicans in some parts of the country are hurting their political aspirations by standing up for their convictions.

I may not agree with their political opinions; but I can admire a person who would hold to their convictions even if it hurts their political aspirations.... we need more politicians that do this, not less.

Would you agree?

Convictions = God belief

Which has no business in a secular government.

No.

I have many convictions and I am an atheist.

The definition of "conviction" is a firmly held belief or opinion.

Some people come to their convictions through belief in a higher being, some do not.

And in a democracy all people are allowed (and should) to use their convictions to form their political opinions. We do not dehumanize people because they are religious and we do not prevent them from furthering their political opinions because they are formed in part through religious beliefs.

Are you going to deny the Republican Right wing's religious dominance?

"Dominionism on the Rise"

I'm atheist too -- integrity above all else.

Does not change the facts.

You would have to define "Republican Right wing's religious dominance" in this context. I really have no idea what you are trying to convey with the statement.

I mean, let's be honest with ourselves....

Ever since Roe, even somewhat before then, the Republicans have been backing the most archaic, nonsensical, out of touch BS that anyone can possibly imagine.

This is surprising to absolutely nobody.

they always did that, they only went along with Democrats because their ideals were aligned for the most part up until the 70's then divergence began and by the 90's they were starting to look very different, more and more until they started seeing Democrat policies as a threat under obama.

electing obama showed that Democrats were no longer in alignment with conservatives and that the people were being swayed by progressive politics way too much, so they needed someone like trump to destroy the progressive order, to realign America back to traditional right wing conservative politics.

all along their goal has been to dismantle the federal government and reestablish America as a Confederacy where the states dictate what the federal government can do, so things like roe vs wade gave federal government too much power so they will keep going after whatever they can to weaken the federal government, its why they always go after Medicaid and Medicare and welfare, it all gives power to federal government so its a threat, same with fiat dollar and income taxes, its all empowering the federal government.

its not about anti democracy, its about whether it empowers the federal government or not, its about a culture war against progressive ideology so anything is acceptable as long as it furthers their goal, lying, cheating, threats, maybe even murder eventually. American progressives need a new roosevelt to keep them at bay once again, someone willing to use troops to enforce the law when the right tries to circumvent it.

I think politicians are elected to represent their constituents. I would say that a politician that chooses to legislate their own beliefs over the clear will of their constituents is failing at their job.

In this case, I'd say Christian Nationalist, Speaker Johnson, is the one that needs to see someone about removing that D _ _ K from up his arse!

That's a fin opinion and has an easy way to be tested for truthfulness .... which also happens to be the remedy if in fact it is true.

But it really doesn't answer the question I asked.

Politicians have a platform of convictions and beliefs they stand behind. People, constituents, either do or don’t follow that politicians platform. If enough do, that politician gets elected.

That’s how that works.

Ultimately the left vs right is a distraction while the elites keep taking more.

The theocrat succeed when their constituents are not educated. Look how states with religious nut jobs controlling the state and how not only are the public schools failing to educate the youth, they want to pass legislation to ensure public schools will never succeed at times even going so far to ban books that teach evolution as the main driver in biology and forcing creationism to be taught effectively forcing religion on the students.

George Carlin was great to listen to, no one was better an explaining the system in way we all could understand.

I put my 60+ hour work weeks on salary for over thre decades. Meaning I was paid for a 40 hour week. No OT or other. As a result I learned how to do my own electrical, plumbing, carpentry, paint, drywall, landscaping, tile, finish trim. I plowed back well into the $100,000's of dollars in my wallet. Why, because I could not afford all those subcontractors.

My work is also professional as I am particular.

I busted my ass. Now its time to reap some benefits. I hope.
