The DHS has introduced a masterpiece plan to house tens of thousands on new Migrants at several major airports in New York and New Jersey.

Great plan to keep the Migrants in perpetual poverty and have as much danger and chaos in high traffic public areas.

House Republicans: Biden Plan to Turn U.S. Airports into Migrant Camps Poses Major ‘Security Risks’ to Americans

House Republicans are urging President Joe Biden’s Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary, Pete Buttigieg, to reject reported plans that would see United States airports transformed into migrant camps for tens of thousands of illegal aliens.

A total of 70 House Republicans, led by House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO), are asking Buttigieg to drop plans in which the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) “has proposed housing 60,000 migrants at four public airports and various other facilities in New York and New Jersey,” they write:

As this thread proceeds, does anyone have any information from HLS or anyone in the Biden administration concerning these reported plans? I looked around and found numerous accounts of the Republicans decision to write a letter to Buttagege about it but all of those were repeating the same story.

I was unable to find one announcement from the Biden administration in regards to these alleged plans.

And yes, there was, or maybe still is, the news about 400 migrants being housed at OHare. Whether or not they are still there is questionable. Anyone got more information on Chicago?

What could find on the current state at O Hare comes from articles published over a month ago stating that it was a holding area until shelters become available.

An airport? Seriously? So post 9/11 we are going to place thousands of illegals, people we have no knowledge from where they come from, and house them conveniently into airports?

It might be planned for convenience. They say they are not doing this and prove it within days by flying them out in the mean time. Kind of a shell game to hide where and how many illegals are actually there.

We have about 600 migrants living at Ohare Airport (Chicago) in one of the lesser used terminals. A huge curtain was put on the window, and also one used as a separator, so travelers getting their baggage can't look over and see them.

But the Chicago police stations look like zombie land due to so many migrants wandering around outside and inside. They really freaked out when it snowed here last week, LOL.

I can't find anything either on an official source but it stems from Bloomberg and Bloomberg claims:

The airport in Atlantic County is on a list of 11 federally owned facilities that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security sent in a letter to New York City Mayor Eric Adams of potential places to relocate and house some migrants, Bloomberg reported, citing an anonymous source with knowledge of the discussions.

www.nj.com...

Which btw, I've read 'anonymous', 'unknown' etc. in many articles going back more than 4 months but all disclosing Bloomberg as the original claimant of the info with an anonymous source.

It's amazing how much one claim or statement can cause a massive reaction. Apparently though, enough politicians believe it enough to respond. The other thing I've read is that it isn't a Buttigieg proposal but instead, DHS. Which may be for the NY/NJ area only, not sure though. It's confusing because it's hard to pin down an actual place, and seems more speculation than anything else.

The Members of Congress cited reports that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has proposed housing 60,000 migrants at four public airports and other facilities in New York and New Jersey, as has been done at Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

It's a lot like chasing one's tail in trying to figure this out but I've come to the conclusion it's an unknown source but is being taken very seriously by those concerned about enacting a really bad decision.

Thanks Stout, I found that as well. Bloomberg stated it from an anonymous source. And even then, if the source is accurate, it could easily be just a list of viable venues for the NY mayor to consider using should he need to and not a directive to do so or as part of a federal plan or program. The article I found also pointed out the emergency state that NYC was facing due to the migrants transported to NYC by the Texas governor..

The propulsion this story has grown with over the last couple of days to inspire a concerted response in a letter to Buttigieg by 70 in the House should be addressed by Buttigieg. But this is also something I have not found. This could mean that either the administration does not want to comment due to it being true or because they just don't want to feed a Republican scare tactic. I don't know but I would sure like to hear and read more about this as I don't like the idea of housing people in air ports either.

I still have found little account of the people at O Hare other than the reports from a month ago. The migrants began sleeping there when they were flown to O Hare from Texas as reported in this article from last April. At the time of that report there were only 40 housed there.

O’HARE — About 40 migrants, mostly young women and children, wrapped themselves in blankets and tried to sleep Wednesday morning outside a homelessness center inside O’Hare Airport.

The Venezuelan migrants said they crossed the border into Texas and were offered free flights to Chicago while staying at a shelter in San Antonio. They’re just dozens of the thousands of migrants sent here from Texas since last summer.

I have not kept up on this story enough to know if those people from April are still there or have moved, or been moved, on. The 400 to 600 number seems consistent though out the timeline of this story.

The lack of intelligence of this policy is on par with putting migrants in camps near the Chunnel entrance in France. Stupid-plus.

Seems some people don't learn from others mistakes.....

Or maybe they don't view it as a mistake and want to replicate the 'success'?

to tell the truth, keeping them confined instead of letting them roam aimlessly about the country while " waiting for their asylum court date" isn't a bad idea.

especially single fighting age men who aren't from south america seeing how we've been threatened by all three of the new axis of evil a couple times or more in the past 8 years.

i think i could find a better place than a airport though, that is just asking for trouble or maybe even part of a plan.
visions of a different version of the raid on enbibe come to mind.

Seems strange.

I thought the majority of illegal migrants coming across your border did so via foot and the use of the likes of coyotes as opposed to flying into US airports.

They get bussed around and some actually do fly in at government expense, once they are "processed in the U.S..
