I think Raskin has the right of it. Expelling him now would set a dangerous precedent. Best to wait for the Ethics Committee's report or a conviction before expelling him.

He was elected. There was plenty of time for the voters to find out who he was but..nope. Do i like him, no, but he was elected. You have Congress People openly performing insider trading..nothing is done. While in office I have not seen him do anything that would require a vote to remove when there are others openly supporting terror groups but it is pushed to the side.

Bottom line. He has not been convicted of anything yet. If he is, and you can tie it to actions after he started his term end it.

This is why ALL candidates should be vetted properly. Let him complete his term and good riddance.

The House Ethics Committee have released their report on Santos. They have significant evidence that Santos broke the law and gave referred the matter to the DOJ.

Now that the ethics report is out there, I wonder if a new expulsion vote will be held.

Well that was fast. It should be noted that Guest was not among the 24 Republicans that voted to expel him last time. So the ethics report has definitely changed some minds.

I don't see him getting out of it this time.

Santos has also announced that he won't be seeking reelection. He did try to paint the Ethics Committee as being partisan in his statement. I guess no one told him the Ethics Committee has a GOP majority and the decision to reference him to the DOJ was unanimous.

Rep. Jackson, one of the Dems the previously voted against expelling Santos, calls the report damning and now that Santos has received due process he will vote to expel.

Amazing how that House Ethics Committee could get this done so quick when there are other elected officials out there committing crimes also.

Like I said, he was elected. He is no better than quite a few CongressPeople on both sides of the aisle. He just has no connections so he is hung out to dry.

I am sure he will get a job as a political commentator on CNN.

Rep. Guest has officially filed a resolution to expel Santos. It will be voted on at some point after the Thanksgiving break.

If it goes through, Santos will only be the sixth member of Congress to be expelled in history.

He lied about his entire past and used his position as a political candidate to steal the identities of the people that donated to his campaign and to slim their credit card numbers. His constituents hate him and want him gone for lying to them.

He should be expelled.

I dont care... 1 liar in the midst of a pack of liars doesnt cause me any heartburn.

Considering the state of the economy, that idiot got us into a climate pact with china, rising costs of everything...

Yea couldnt care less about that particular liar, thats a problem for the people of his district. Congress needs to worry about passing a fricking budget.

ETA: and the world is on fire... yea I really dont care about 1 liar in a pack of liars.

I feel like we should be very carefully when removing any elected official, always.

But I also see where the check against voters that didn't do their homework, or the politician has been exposed and they have not recalled them.

They can ignore him to death. He gets to vote, but not be on any committees.

The state of the economy? You mean having the strongest economy in the world and outpacing China's economic growth for the first time in 40 years?

you are higher than a kite, how about rising cost of gas, heating oil, groceries, rent, houses, interest rates.

I dont give a flip about the stock market, I care about being able to afford to feed my family, clothe them, shelter them, and teach my son.

The price of everything is up because your team keeps spending like a drunken sailor that the rising interest rates are not able to do what they are supposed to.

We are racing headlong into 1970's part deux and nit wits like you are cheering them on.

Just because China's real estate bubble is popping doesnt mean we are doing well, it just means the floor hasnt fallen out completely yet on us.

That's the game.

Removing energy and food from the CPI makes for any economic talking point you wish to make.

Yea I remember the dnc propaganda arm trying to say strong stock market means nothing if a republican is in office, but trumpet it while the fed is pumping billions into the stock market while a dem is in the seat.

It wasnt that long ago, its astonishing how willfully ignorant people can be, part of the reason I have more moose as neighbors than people.

Look. If he hurt someone...jail him. If he lied and people contributed and voted. Tough #. Vet you vote. It is on you not them.

Elizabeth Warren comes to mind when lying about things because hers was the funniest. Now, the reason it was personal to me is my family has 25% Native American on one side. I had two cousins who got a few scholarships and why not?

Now, his criminal activity, it does not disqualify him from office. It is some shady # and he is a total dirtbag but...

He was voted in.

If the power of the voter is removed when there is no crime to the constituents to me it is not legal. He could have had sex with an intern and....ooopps... sorry.

Guess what? Prices are higher all over the world. It's fallout from the pandemic. The US has handled it better than other countries.

And printing a trillion dollars a day to prop up the stock market while a Republican was in office has nothing to do with it current inflation?
