NZ Prime Minister Involved in Mid-Air Scare

Helen Clarke, the Prime Minster of New Zealand, was left bruised and shaken after the door of her plane blew open at 8,000 feet. The craft, a twin-engined Piper Aztec was forced to make an emergency landing.

Turbulence is being blamed as the cause of the door opening but that seems really far-fetched to me.

Are there really such things as aircraft 'accidents' when it comes to politicians?

Hehe, in NZ the are plenty of recent precidents for small plane "incidents" like this.

Anyway, my reply was to note that the report on CNN and the one on local radio stations (the one I was listening to anyway) are pretty different. On CNN they say she describes it as a very scary experience and that she knew what was going on. On the radio I heard an interview with her where she said that she hardly realised anything was amiss and she kept reading a security briefing about the upcoming Gallipoli services.
