New Low for US: Putin to broker peace?

About 15% of Israel population are from Russia. With how Ukraine has been going lately are they going to be next on the list for termination once there are no more Muslims to kill?

What is going to happen to the global oil supply as the Middle East goes up in flames again? Joe killed America's energy independence. There are oil reserves around Australia, but no infrastructure to extract and refine it with the way the global energy industry is. Might be some small plants around, but not enough capacity for the nation. What will China do as its trade in the region breaks down?

in such an interconnected world, we can either live together or die together. For things to go Mad Max here, it started as the oil dried up.

Whether you like Putin or not, the man is on the top echelon of the political world. And obviously no fool.

Look what he’s balancing right now.

It can be A LOT worse. Especially the situation with/against the top dogs/countries of the world every direction. Both economically and militarily.

In comparison to Israel, how they just unleashed a quarter of the energy/destruction of a nuclear bomb past days in Gaza. Putin could have leveled Kiev multiple times over by now.

Of course he’s in the game.

Some quick examples. Like how he handled the whole Wagner situation. Russian citizens were quiet. They knew what was up and felt relatively calm. We’re talking about the top PMC company in the world that’s proven and experienced.

And how he assisted Erdogan in the 2016 turkey coupe.

Not saying he’s a saint, but there’s a lot worse waiting in line behind him. With less patience, experience and strategic calculation.

Puti is worried that if Israel moves against Iran, as the "source" of the funding Hamas and Hezbollah need to continue attacking Israel, Iran will be expecting Russia to provide support...and perhaps even military assistance.

With Russian military assets already stretched (Remember Prigozhin's complaints?) by Russia's war in Ukraine, Putin would face a very difficult choice: Re-supply Iran and possibly have to concede Ukraine. Or ignore Iran, and lose position and standing....relevance, actually, in the ME.


Losing Iran would be embarrassing. Losing Ukraine could prove fatal. Putin needs a cease-fire far more than Netanyahu....or Biden.

Self-serving or not, the optics are not great.

You’re implying a war is beneficial to the US/NATO. I tend to agree with that statement.

I also suspect that this war was a bit of a surprise, and perhaps not at the best time, either, for all parties. But, a better time for USNATO.

The economic implications are interesting as well. The disruption in oil markets hurt everyone - and particularly China. The US has been tightening into a slowing Chinese economy. China is doing stimmies while USNATO largely tightens further. It also would likely be the end of OPEC+ as we know it.

This is all assuming a USNATO/Israeli victory - which if push came to shove, I view as the most probable outcome by far.

If he can get his people to back off, it'll get easier for all sides.

Sounds like the kind of thing one hears when a bully is trying to drag their next victim away from a curious crowd.

This time we have the result of a slow and gradual 70 year invasion of Israel on Palestine. Those who did not fight back got rounded up into Giza or pushed out the West Bank. Now its time to sort these out and hid those dirty secrets under a mountain of rubble. I don't see this plan working out too well for Israel in the long term.

Would be interesting to do a comparison of how many people saying this is a joke are the same people that said any prospect of China brokering a deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia was a joke.

It's not necessarily a reflection of how respected Putin (or Xi) are. It's more of a reflection that the world doesn't think the US can get anything done anymore.
