Let's have an informal poll

No humanitarian aid till the hostages are freed unharmed

Yes or No

JUST BASIC humanitarian aid, food, water and electricity, medical supplies

Israel says no humanitarian break to Gaza siege unless hostages are freed.

The most basic aid that you mention is what the Palestinians normally get out of being blockaded. They're not getting that now.

This amounts to a medieval siege on a civilian population (only with modern weapons). No to that, obviously.

Retaliation for one war crime by committing a bigger one is not the way to go. Unlikely to work anyway as the crimes against humanity and war crimes that Israel has been perpetuating for decades with impunity (which all adds up to ethnic cleansing) hasn't worked. It's done the opposite.

There are obvious if more difficult ways to try to gather those responsible for the recent spree. It would involve extending Palestinians not only equality, but basic human rights and recognition in their own lands. Will never happen.

The emotional rants where people accept unconfirmed reports of atrocities and dehumanising techniques to use as justification don't work either, the facts are sad enough without this and investigators will have to sort the truth from propaganda.

The bombings have already killed hostages, according to hamas. The indiscriminate nature of the bombings highlights that hostages are not the motive anyway. This points to vengeance being the motive, by slaughtering even more civilians and round it goes...

It looks like the Israeli leadership is now staring at a "Final Solution" to their Palestinian problem and much of the west is on board. How ironic.

Holocaust (and Soviet occupation) survivor Gabor Mate is correct here.

The Israel Palestine situation isn't really complicated at all, in reality it's straight forward.

Any possibility of a peaceful solution will require an acknowledgement of the inhumane treatment of the Palestinians and efforts at making amends. Unfortunately at the moment a racist, extreme right-wing apartheid regime is running things at the worst possible time, so it will go from bad to worse.

You'll find these words are a mirror to Hamas and other Palestinian groups.

Hamas and their terrorist ilk don't want peace. Peace would make them irrelevant. They want perpetual conflict. Yet, the "Palestine question" will only be solved by the antisemites wanting peace.

Yeah there was a point in another thread that well it's just for the Isrealis to negotiate peace with Palestine.

A Palestine that doesnt control Gaza because Hamas control it and a Palestine that refuse to denounce Hamas. Hamas which has their mission in life to kill all Israelis.

Who is Israel supposed to negoiate with? Who can they make peace with? Would Hamas compromise and agree to only kill like half of them in return for land?

It's a festering wound in an impossible situation with no "correct" way to deal with it.

The water supply in Gaza ran out about 24 hours ago. Humans can only survive without water for 72 hours.

I have been reading from multiple sources that Israel, allegedly, has turned on the water for southern Gaza but that it hasn't been confirmed yet.

Maybe cooler heads are prevailing but I don't think it'll stop the ground operation from going unless hostages are released. Even then, that may not be enough.

That's not on the TV News nor on any of the internet news sites I go to.
I'm thinking ... no. But there is this from Liberty Daily quoting two unnamed 'Israeli officials'

Liberty Daily

According to two Israeli officials speaking to Axios, Israel has resumed the water supply to the southern Gaza Strip following intense pressure from the Biden administration. This decision is significant because Israel’s previous halt in water supply had worsened the already dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, with aid groups sounding the alarm about rapidly depleting water resources.

Israel had announced the cessation of all water supply to Gaza on the second day of the conflict, with the Israeli Minister of Energy, Israel Katz, stating that no water spigot would be opened until the release of the hostages held by Hamas.

"Bibi' turned the water back on.
News source now saying he did it because of pressure from Biden.
It wasn't supposed to go back on until the hostages were released.
Bibi ... 'blinked'.
