Hats off to the Mods on Political Trolling!

I have to admit, I had my doubts. But over time I see a VERY noticeable difference in the posts on the site. It's starting to feel like it did back in 2003. More factual content by posters and the political vitriol has been reduced significantly. It feel nice to be here again.

I believe it's all our jobs to clean up this site of trolls and hate mongers. If you see something, say something.

Specifically towards this:

16) Behavior: You will not behave in an abusive, libelous, defamatory, hateful, intolerant, bigoted and/or racist manner, and will not harass, threaten, nor attack anyone.

So, thanks again to the mods. Personally I appreciate it and see the difference.

I too have noticed an improvement, but the intolerance of others is still there but somewhat controlled. I am not sure what the solution would be for making an intolerant person, at the very least, open minded enough to have a rational and non-triggering discussion.

Maybe we should ask a Mod here on ATS what the definition is so we can all get a handle on what type of behaviour is expected here in regards to intolerant behaviour.

If anything, ignoring and choosing not to respond to a question such as that falls into that category.

Maybe it's an attention-seeking thing from being weaned too young.

I can't tell you how many members here don't bother answering my questions, where are you pointing this out to them when it happens?

Everyone here is projecting, there is really not much else we can do because we are not face to face, so misunderstandings and misinterpretations are rampant.

The members here have only opinions, subjective perceptions and reactive emotions.

And arguing and debating are two different things, which most members here can't seem to distinguish.

I am all for expressing opposing opinions but when some members' opinions are further countered or challenged for a rational base or scientific evidence then the problems arise.

So you are saying that when one person has studies to back up their position, the opposite person needs to capitulate?

Showing studies is only a means to an end to explain one's position/stance in a debate...food for thought, so to speak.

Of course the member can choose not to participate, but some members choose to play games, twist people's words back at them, start name calling...you've seen it all, I am sure.

And I'll do the same for you too if I notice it happening.

So basically anything that is said, regardless of evidence, etc is wrong unless you approve or can gaslight as usual? Ok got it....SMH

Generalizations is another issue I have with some posters here. They use generalization and stereotyping as putting forth an opinion as a fact.

Anything put forth here is usually opinion and or a biased perspective, which BTW we are all biased to certain extents.

When you say "they" and in the next breath complain about "generalization" it is kind of funny.
