The FEMA Test is just a test. We can relax. Probably.

I really don't care, I just don't want 2 phones screaming at me.

Anyone know what time it is?
And can I turn my volume off, or do they override that?

I am going to test if "airplane mode" actually does what is it is supposed to. My daily phone has the following options: Extreme Threats, Severe Threats, AMBER alerts, Public Safety messages, and State and local tests.... I have all off but the Extreme and Severe threats. Notice there is no option to disable National tests. I will have that phone on with the volume down. Now, I also have two other phones here which are kept on airplane mode (so they shouldn't be using the cellular modem and they have no SIM card) but they are on wifi. One is for data syncing and an emergency backup in case my wife or I break our phone we can swap SIMs, the other is in the kids room for soothing nighttime sounds and a gentle wake up alarm.

I have a hunch, all three will go off at 11:20am Pacific time which will prove to me that the cellular modems can and do communicate even when they are supposed to be off for "safety."

FWIW:

And here's VERIFICATION of STARLINK Changes:
SAME TIME AS FEMA/FCC EMERGENCY NATIONWIDE ALERT 😉

Maybe this is what we're missing🤔 Timing??

FEMA and FCC Plan Nationwide Emergency Alert Test for Oct. 4, 2023

Starlink Launches V2 Mini-Satellites with 'Space Lasers' (Oct 3, 2023)

Data transfers between satellites in the constellation can now reach speeds of 100 Gbps without involving ground stations.

[twitter.com...]

left out this part wouldn't Starlink notify if there was going to be an outage?

It's hilarious reading crazy theories ie Starlink we are about to receive a message from our NHI neighbors here on terra firma some suggest it will be a crank call, others suggest it's collection or eviction notice

So in the end ATS the conspiracy site has fewer people talking whack job theories than the real world.

but are you 100% certain.... would you bet your life or your children's souls there is nothing to it?

Hell I don't ever say that because that's bad juju, LOL

I would be willing to bet 37 cents and a hamburger that everything will be fine, surely that counts for something right?

I see ATS having fewer conspiracies mentioned just because of the mostly level headed nature of our members. Some of the more outlandish stuff seems to get pushed to the side in favor of logic.

I'm not letting them beam their 5Gs into my brain!

My phone will be off, wrapped in foil, placed in a zip lock bag, suspended in a container of water, and in the microwave during the "test".

Also looks like Russia didn't send it to mobile phones. The official press release says to put your phone on airplane mode but a lot of people are saying that wouldn't work for emergency alerts. Hmm.

I'm going to yeet mine off the Zilwaukee Bridge.

I suppose I'll join the club. If they're going to sully mine with 5G brain beams, I'll just scrap it and start over!

Holy crap - I just thought of something.

THOSE POOR SOULS THAT WORK IN CELL PHONE RETAIL STORES

It is not supposed to matter if your device is turned off. Unless you take it apart and remove the battey. Also by federal law, all phones must be able to dial 911 if they have battery charge to do so even without a SIM card installed. So they probably can track the phones without a SIM card.

Last time I went to one of those stores, they only had dummy phones on display. But yes, that would be awful.

Doesn't surprise me. ATS stopped being a conspiracy website when the Mudpit got started. That finished the job and made it ALL political. The Tea Party and Mud Pit changed ATS.

The removal of the Mud Pit is a good thing, but it will take time to heal.

They say it takes half the time of a bad relationship to fully heal from it. So if the relationship lasted for 6 years, it could take up to 3 years to fully heal.

It may take a while for ATS to heal up.

the quickest way to get ATS to heal is to adopt a totally left wing idiot position, and talk down to everyone, or that's what I see by those who claim to know.

Hey, maybe we should all try different things, to see if the alert still comes through?

Like others have mentioned, airplane mode, turned off completely, off and in the microwave, ect.

Then come back here and report if it still came through or not?

I have 2, so I will turn them both off, and put one in the microwave. Just because I have one here at work.

This may be totally useless info for those in the US, but we had our tests in Italy over a two week period in September.

Here's the FAQ from the official IT-Alert website.

www.it-alert.it...

To note the following:

- No alerts can be received without a SIM;
- No alerts can be received if your phone/tablet is in airplane mode;
- No audible alert is heard if the mobile device is muted;
- It uses the general broadcast function of cellular services, not the SMS network, and it temporarily disables all other device functions until you click to remove the notification;
- Lastly, at least here, the broadcast doesn't collect any personal information and is totally anonymous.

I can confirm that I didn't get an alert on any of my devices that didn't have a voice-enabled SIM, even an old phone with just a data SIM didn't squeal.

Thank you for posting that. I'm figuring it will be the same here, but you know, covering the conspiracy angle as well! LOL

Then we will know if our government is really out to get us!

Yes, I, too, had my doubts. That's why, having multiple old devices, I left each in different states.

The only one that surprised me was an old, but new, iphone 4 that I keep with a cheap SIM in case of emergency. It is always on and we use it as an alarm clock... no alert. Being so old perhaps it doesn't have the broadcast hardware.
