2019?

Why am I not surprised?

It's important to remember Rumble will just be the start.
The noose will be tightened slowly and they will come for one group at a time.

The "end" will be something like the demise of football (or as we call it soccer) matches.

Too much congregating, spreading germs, too much potential for private conversations about "harmful" topics.

Link?

When was this?

Lord Grade was appointed Chair, in 2022.

I mentioned that earlier but they refused to acknowlege that the story was outdated (2019) and incorrect.

You forgot that your assertions which were nothing more than parroting official lines were easily refuted but other members here and the lawyer on the link I gave earlier.

Apart from OFCOM apologists those members who are from the UK font really think OFCOM is independent. The same is true if you ask them about the BBC, the IPCC, and everything else.

You can't even give you personal opinions and try to parrot official lines...

"It looks like the lawyer and the other members have refuted your assertions."

You mean the other random internet users?

Just as much you and the other member are random internet users.

But you're also a successful lawyer who argues the burden of proof should be reversed in cases of libel and defamation. That's incredible!

Yeah, you keep telling yourself that...

How Are We To Interpret The Possibility Of The Demise of Rumble In The UK?

The demise of Rumble, or any other business not registered in, the UK could be interpreted as govt overreach and the path to totalitarianism.

I agree with you and other posters here who have seen through the quagmire and have discerned threat to liberty and inalienable rights, including the right to question power and read or participate in or believe any views they see fit.

These new regulations reduce and seek to reduce consumer choice, a direct attack on free-market ideologies the govt pretend they believe in and support.

It has begun to bore me how many Brits on these boards are revealing themselves in their wilful naivety. Their faith in govt and defence of a quango clearly embracing establishment values of 'jobs for the boys' is both embarrassing and distasteful.

But of course, these things must follow the right order. We are currently at the 'first they will ridicule you' stage. Next comes violent opposition.

UK politicians are a bunch of immature jackasses who can't mind their own business and think a nice suit gives them power like this?

Everyone seems to forget that there is no demise with Rumble and there never was a 'possibility' of a demise. As I stated previously, the ones holding the power are the audience and the sponsors, as evidenced at Rumble with sponsors running for the hills because of Russell Brand. Rumble is free to keep Brand around as they wish, but they may rethink that decision.

The burden of proof in defamation cases is switched to the alleged defamer.

I don't think you understand this.

I said our defamation laws need reform.

They do.

Stop lying.

I gave you my own opinion on the independence of the IPCC based on my own direct experience.

Why? They stopped it during the lock down! What makes you think they won't stop it again.

Maybe it will be a "partial" ban only allowing teams with what they interpret as "positive" interactions. You know, the current mix of genders and backgrounds at the event - no naughty speech or yelling. No building up your team or putting down others because that shows a bad example for children.

Sounds crazy? So did allowing people born as biological males with full male private parts compete in women's sports.

Here's the type of article which will be used to support the ban on sports:
www.theguardian.com...

"o what can be done? It’s unrealistic to expect stewards on minimum wage, many of whom have received only cursory training, to stand in the way, but equally it’s unrealistic, in terms of cost and resources, not to mention the look, for pitches always to be ringed by police. The Football League this week suggested it was considering partial stadium closures as a deterrent"

I'm positive they will get to sports - Of course, they won't lead with it, it will take time to build up enough power
but it will happen - watch!

From your comments about British TV and now this about Football it's clear you don't understand Britain's way of donig things.

There are many people who can put up with government messing with their lives but for some, messing with Football for more than a few weeks would cause uproar. It would be like scenes straight out of Mad Max and The Purge combined. Just not going to happen.

Next?

Perhaps we should close Parliament, then?

And when football is taken away (after another nice little letter from Caroline) how are people going to complain?

*They can lock people in their homes
*They can prevent any dissent on the internet

So how is the uproar/purge going to happen?

Football will be gone or water down to something void of emotions.

And you won't be even able to complain about it.
But it's all worth it because Ofcom will make sure your children can view naked adults.

Ever.

Period.

Football will be around as Britain is the home and birth of it.
Channel 4 will carry on showing naked people as long as sex isn't involved and a small amount of prudes and religious nuts will complain.
It makes me laugh, the same people complaining about restrictions on freedom of speech, are the same people wanting to get their own way about TV and restrict that???
They are also the same types who complain about muslims restricting womans rights and then do the same.

Naked Attraction (Channel 4 show by the same people) is avalible in America now!!

All gonna go?
