All Mh90 helo’s in Australian service have been grounded.

This is a big step to have been taken to ground all aircraft permanently.

Richard Marles defence minister made the decision until the Blackhawk will be in service which is more than a year away.

I am suprised as aircrew would still need to maintain training hours interim.

Interim pilots may leave the defence force to keep their compliance hours up, possibly leaving a substantial skills gap.

They’ll send some crews to the US for transition training I’m sure. Keeping proficient in the NH90 wouldn’t help much once they get the UH-60s.

Got it. Confused as to why the defence forces, changed from the Blackhawk, to the mh90 and now back to the Blackhawk.

I guess it comes down to cost, though wonder if they have all the specialist equipment fot the Blackhawk’s, like tools, specialist equipment, gantries, etc.

Would make the project a little cheaper.

What is the better of the two in your opinion?

They did have a lot of the Blackhawk stuff.Unsure how much survives after they retired the Crackhawks in the first place..We had problems with the Crackhawks due to Australia cutting costs and getting the upgraded civilian versions instead of the proper Military versions..Taipan was bought as we were promised a "good deal" from Airbus the same people who gave us the EuroTigre (which also didnt work properly as advertised)..All n all another great period of Australian Defense force spending

At least the f11 prooved how capable in the long term it was.

Granted it’s old tech though still could make it to Indonesia and back not requiring mid air refuelling.

At least a Huey was safe and reliable.

The NH90 has proven to be pretty ugly. Just about everyone that operates it has had issues with it, some serious. The -60 has the advantage of maturity.
