That isn't already the case? Since when are Parental rights not operating as a privilege that can be revoked for what the state deems abuse?

Perhaps it's now seen that putting a cigarette out on your kid's arm is equal in cruelty to sending them to Straight Camp to learn how to be horribly repressed and call it cured.

I think that's the rationale behind all this.

Not permitting your child to be gay or trans is now considered a form of child abuse more often than not. A teacher may tell parents, and daddy may whip boy with belt until he acts like a boy should. That's the reasoning anyway. Parents can be repressed and have all kinds of homophobic rage.

Morality has really gone twisted to the evangelical perspective, but kids have always been at the mercy of the parents social contract. Which keeps going the democrat way of Massachusetts, and (in today's world) extends to LGBT issues in regards to a place the state can step in to protect the child. Or at least it is trending that direction.

Clarification:

I see society changing to see it more harmful to leave a kid in a repressive environment than to intervene and 'protect their 14th Amendment rights'.

Depends how it's done.

If they can make the argument their religion is central to their mental health and their home environment isn't permitting their civil right protections to do so, HELL F***** YEAH they can petition the courts or appeal to state intervention. Emancipation if old enough, or willing to move to a more permissive environment.

If I was a judge I would rule in favor of both the validity to remove the LGBT kid and the rights of the religious kid. Citing "Sex" for the former and "Religion" for the latter, both under 14th Amendment protections.

Yes, I'd support the removal of children by state agencies for a wide range of reasons. Drugs, physical abuse, unsanitary conditions, and even psychological abuse over sexual identity.

If an LGBT child was suicidal and being force-fed religious Doctrine against their will to straighten them out, and they knew at 14 they wanted to be the opposite gender, but was forbidden and punished over it, I would not hesitate to remove the child from the hostile environment.
