About 41,000 military personnel, between 500 to 700 air combat missions, more than 50 ships from all NATO member states and Sweden are expected to take part in the exercises, which will practice repelling Russian aggression against one of the alliance’s members

Well, the article gets straight to the point. It's going to be a show of coordination and force in an attempt to deter further Russian aggression.

You now have two forces trying to intimidate one another, I see NATO as an arm of imperialist expansion, and this is part of it.

Anyone know how many significant world events were predicated on "training?'

Just curious....

Exercises=Saber-rattling

Surely this has nothing to do with Africa moving away from NATO and that same NATO floundering in Ukraine against Russia. NATO should have disbanded the moment the Berlin wall fell. Instead they are frogmarching us into WWIII.

Looking at what?

The nations that's never invaded a country under the cover of an exercise or the nations that has invaded a country under the cover of an exercise?

There's a NATO defence training exercise happening in the Baltic Sea right now.

Some 30 warships and 3,200 personnel from 14 nations will participate in the annual two-week naval exercise Northern Coasts, which starts on Saturday (9 September 2023) in the Baltic Sea, primarily off the coasts of Estonia and Latvia. Led by the German Navy, Northern Coasts is one of the biggest exercises in the region, and is focusing for the first time on high-end warfare and the collective defence of NATO Allies.

Over the coming two weeks, Allies will train amphibious operations, air defence, strikes from sea to land, and securing sea lanes. Standing NATO Maritime Group One and Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group One are participating in the manoeuvres, which involve personnel from Allies Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the U.S. and NATO invitee Sweden. Held annually, the exercise is being run for the first time from Germany’s new Navy Command in Rostock.

This follows the biggest ever air exercise of NATO forces back in June of this year.

With Russia's continuing war in Ukraine and the movement of Russian Nuclear weapons to Belarus along with continued threats from Russia against Poland , Norway , Sweden and Moldova t's hardly surprising NATO countries want to keep their forces sharp and ready for any eventuality.

It's only an exercise. Exercising is why NATO can work together, including new and prospective members.

Of course, since Russia attempted to invade Ukraine, and their subsequent belligerence and ranting and raving, it's good to remind Russia that NATO exists, and send a message to those countries that border Russia, that they are protected.

I don't wanna be amigo I got grand daughters that deserve a
safe America. But from the beginning it's felt like the war in Ukraine
was just the start. Now we just had Ukraine try to Pearl harbor
a Russian fleet? It almost jumped off right there if it weren't for
Musk.

True, though. Pearl Harbour was a pre emptive sneak attack. This wasn't. They are already at war and the. Russian Navy has been attacking Ukrainian ports and targeting Ukraine.

No?
