WTAF! This is just breaking news, 6,000, yes, 6,000 migrants have landed in the last 24 hours in 130 boats on the tiny Italian island of Lampedusa.... yeah, I had never heard of this island before either. Lampedusa population = 6,000 which has now DOUBLED in 24 hours to 12,000!!!

Gadaffi was right...... go to 42 minute mark..... 23 Sep 2009 Muammar Gaddafi speech at United Nations General Assembly

I'm sure most of you will have come across his speech before, if not, it is well worth the watch. In it he says, and I paraphrase..... "I know you want to get rid of me, but if you do there will be a flood of immigrants to Europe. I am the only one that is holding back that flood."

Unlikely because Europe seems to be washing their hands of helping Italy deal with this immigrant crisis. Europe to Italy, "you're on your own" (my words).

Lampedusa’s mayor, Filippo Mannino, lashed out at Europe for leaving Italy alone to grapple with migrant arrivals by sea, saying it had “remained silent all these months.” He called for a structural solution to the migrant crisis, and told SKY that Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni had pledged her support in a phone call.

That is so, but I'm willing to bet, not one of them had their population double overnight, no?

Seen it years ago Angel, on the evidence Wagner is everywhere formenting wars in Africa plus Russia is backing Assad and this also means millions of Sunni's on the move out of Syria through the Libyan route. It's actually happening and Putin is behind some of it

It's not just Italy it's the whole of Europe being affected. Not saying everything is Putin but he is certainly behind many people on the move from war torn regions of the Middle East and Africa. Those are fronts just like the game being played out in Ukraine.

Hundreds of millions of people have had to flee their homes as refugees during these last days because of oppressive and corrupt human governments. The untold sorrow and misery human governments have wrought on humanity is endless.

So Libya is predominantly Sunni and Iran is predominantly Shi'ite from what I gather.
I have read about the alleged Wagner group being in various parts of Africa, so yes, somewhere down the line Putin is involved.
The other nation I have always been concerned about for most of my life are the Chinese...... they play the long game...... and now there are millions of them all over the World with Chinatowns in most major cities. The sleeping army comes to mind. I've also often thought that the Chinese also include those Chinese who live in foreign countries in their population figures.

For sure, this has many layers.

This year could also witness the United States outflank its geopolitical rivals. Russia, which centers its engagement in Africa around arms diplomacy, is mired in the conflict it started in Ukraine. It is unclear how long Russia can afford to send military hardware or mercenaries abroad when it desperately needs them in Ukraine. China, likewise, is undergoing turmoil. COVID-19 continues to play havoc with its economy and social order, resulting in some of the most widespread protests the country has seen in decades. The Chinese Communist Party might focus inward rather than outward in the coming months.

All this leaves the United States room for maneuver. If it can make up lost ground and build on what it started with the December summit, the United States and Africa will prosper.

My hometown has been declared a disaster area for a while now. Yes, populations have doubled and tripled along the border. And yes, some may have had to cope with more people than were in the town before in any one of the organized waves of immigrants.

And nobody cares. 'Remain in Texas' our govt says.

Crippling invasion.

The question I have is this..... who is behind this, what can only be described as an ongoing invasion?
160 boats in just over 24 hours to a tiny little Italian island???? What else would you call it????
This is feeling far too organised to be put down to just 'fair weather' for crossings!
