Might want to put in the OP that the ban is in response to the gun violence and an 11 year old being fatally shot outside of a baseball stadium.
New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday issued an emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding county for at least 30 days in the midst of a spate of gun violence.
The Democratic governor said she is expecting legal challenges but felt compelled to act in response to gun deaths, including the fatal shooting of an 11-year-old boy outside a minor league baseball stadium this week.
The firearms suspension is tied to a threshold for violent crime rates that only the Albuquerque area currently meets.

"They came across a very difficult scene, where they found a child inside a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire and was deceased. A second individual, a female in her 20s, we believe was also struck and was transported to University Hospital and is considered to be in critical condition," the police chief said.
It was not immediately clear if the two victims are related.

I'd think the gov. would want some more facts before taking drastic action.

Just before the presidential election in June 2012, here is something they really needed to pull off, Venezuela bans private gun ownership. Don’t feel bad though, they had a generous buy-back program just before the law went into effect.
"Under the new law, only the army, police and certain groups like security companies will be able to buy arms from the state-owned weapons manufacturer and importer."

Was the boy shot by a law-abiding citizen (legal carry for self protection) ?

I am fully convinced that the CCP has bought most of our politicians. Even the local ones. This is communism. It really feels like they don’t even need to fight us. They will just buy us.
