Strange Deliveries to our county school district from Federal Government.

Hi everyone. I wasn't sure where to post this, and I'm wondering if any others have heard of this happening to their local school districts.

A relative of mine works for the local Board of Education. He said that a couple of weeks ago, without any warning, they received a huge shipment from the federal government of the following items.. (weird in itself.).

Enough high capacity air purifiers to cover every floor in every school in the district, (90+ of these huge purifiers).
truckloads of big black trash bags and gloves, along with truckloads of (kitty litter maybe), that is normally used to clean up spills of vomit, and other nasty things at schools.
multiple truckloads of rolls of paper towels.

The weird thing, is that these items weren't requested by anyone involved in the school system. These trucks just showed up unexpectedly with these items, with some official looking instructions to store these items, and they'd be told when to deploy it all to the schools.

There were enough of these "supplies", to leave the maintenance folks to store these delivered items in every store room, closet, etc available.

I'm not sure what's going on with our county schools, but I was just curious as to whether anyone else had gotten wind of similar happening in their areas.

have your friend check to see if the school is listed as a FEMA shelter or storage area. the items described sound like clean up materials for a spill of some sort.

not unusual to have materials stored in different places and what they call staging areas, they have them all over the U.S.

As far as I know, Buncombe County schools aren't designated as either FEMA storage or shelter. When we have had major events around here, (floods, blizzard conditions, etc..), the schools were closed and people either went to hotels or just left for a better climate until the events cleared up.

We're in Western NC. I think the last time we had any thing that was semi FEMA worthy was when we got hit by a hurricane that straightlined us from Florida in 2005.

It's possible that the schools are a designated storage site, but wouldn't someone in school admin be aware of that, and know that these shipments were expected?

I just heard about this Friday evening over dinner, and my nephew is one of those guys who would tell the truth, even when he knows that a lie would hurt him. He was mainly complaining about his crew having to find storage space for all of that unexpected material. He said that no one in admin could tell them why the shipments were delivered, but they did tell him that they didn't order anything like that.
I just figured it was mighty strange.

That's the thing. He told me that there were exactly enough purifiers for every floor for every school in the district. Whoever sent that stuff obviously did their homework on school space and stories. I could get the purifiers, if the admin for the school system had ordered them. We are a incredibly pollen infested area, (Western NC). The part that made it really weird to me was enough trash bags, gloves and paper towels, and that liquid absorbing kitty litter stuff, to last a couple of generations of graduates.

The first thing that went through my head was that either the feds are expecting something so nasty, (or putting out something so nasty..), that the schools would end up being used as triage and/or temporary medical facilities for something, if the hospitals around here are overrun.

At this point you don't have to be psychic to sense something huge is coming down the pike, and things like this point to some high-level planning behind whatever 'it' is.

Many school districts began buying and using HEPA air purifiers in each classroom starting in 2021 (see link) , but the bags, paper towels and kitty litter would suggest they expect a more traditional intestinal flu season.

Funny/not funny how they know so far in advance what's going to happen.

Are you in an area that is heavily affected by smoke and fires?

Why doesn't your relative ask one of their colleagues for the invoice to look at? Shouldn't be that big of a deal to look at a delivery invoice if they work for the district.

I looked up Buncombe County, it's in North Carolina. You've been under a heavy smoke alert from the fires since June.

It probably has something to do with that.

If your relative is in administration, (seems they are not) they could look into this and ask around, ask for an invoice. If they are a laborer/maintenance, it is very likely nobody cleared it through them to place an order.

I wonder if the explanation could be as simple as, local, state, and federal governments doing their last minute spending sprees before the end of the fiscal year, which is September 30th.

Exactly and who signed for the delivery. Nothing goes over the road
in a truck without a BOL. The bill of lading would have a lot of info.

i was trying to find designated shelters in Buncombe County, and found out Sept, is National Preparedness month, and the county has it all over their website and facebook page.

ETA: question on the air purifiers? did he say if they were the kind that are portable and that actually purify the air and have filters or are the they more like portable exhaust fans that are sometimes used to draw moisture/ smoke and other contaniments out of buildings?

Due to the problems that covid caused schools, the Fed & State level monies are being used to supply public schools with purification units & filters to be prepared for any future outbreaks.
It’s called government being responsible.
This isn’t a telltale of planned mayhem on our government’s behalf… does it ever end with the nefarious behavior behind everything that happens on earth ?

With past behavior being the best indicator of future behavior, no.

Truth is, government doesn't work on behalf of the people; they work on their won behalf and if it means throwing people a few bones to keep them complacent, they make the sacrifice.
