American society as a whole has never been happy. The loudest ones who are currently unhappy are so because America is becoming less white and less Christian.

Personally, I am happier than I've ever been. It has to do with my personal circumstances and nothing to do with the political circus side shows.

Lots of words not one single comma or full stop. Its hard to even begin to understand the context.

But going of previous rants,

Biden evil, democrats demons

the usa is like england on an evolutionary path.. to understand that path is to understand where we are and why we are locked here.

it started with the divine right of kings being challenged by the barons to share power.. thisgave us the bais of modern democracy but goiverened by the kings and barons in cohort.

then comes the reformation and into this this burghs and coporations form the voice of the commons.

then comes the clash between the middle burgh/corporations and barons and king in the various civil wars that followed.

the wars were meant to expand agency to we the people of the commons but the restoration gave us a king, the barons, the burghs and corporations to rule over us all as grandees..

the usa took that to the next natural step in this process but expanding the agency under the banner of "we the people" but has since joined England in losing itself to the king, the barons, the burghs asnd corporations and is locked exatly where England is..

Americans may call them by other names but the pres is the king hence retaining the traditional royal perogatives going back to there founding in the kingdom of kent circa 700s, the pres/king of the usa has more actual royal perogatives that have primacy over all arms of gov than king charlie3.. its one of the reasons trump is feared, as neither congress or the us supreme court has ever curtailed the remaining perogative, even if it meant a king/queen pardoning him/herself of treason as the supreme magistrate of the country they can not commit treason.

but it neatly leads us to the real point, that we all have one final natural conflict which is to take this democratic evolution to its final version, in my mind with todays tech its akin to the swiss form of direct democracy where the people not the burghs, coporations, barons or king decide what happens to us but we collectively decide for ourselves.

this is what the grandees have been fighting since the Putney debates in 1667.. that is where America will see her germ of what she was and what she can be and its birth in the agreement of the people which also sets out what will happen if we return to that pre democratic state of being slaves

extract of "the agrrement of the people"

Having by our late labours and hazards made it appear to the world at how high a rate we value our just freedom, and God having so far owned our cause as to deliver the enemies thereof into our hands, we do now hold ourselves bound in mutual duty to each other to take the best care we can for the future to avoid both the danger of returning into a slavish condition and the chargeable remedy of another war

You attacked the OPs writing skills. The name of the OP is on the thread. You don't have to read it, but I will call you out on insulting him. He is a good person. Knock it off.

We need to break out of the division in this country.
Neither side has a monopoly on bad ideas despite what the chest thumping partisians have led themselves to believe.
Stop the "Us yay! Them boo!" bs our elites have us chanting is only to their benefits.

At the end of the day we're all Americans and are screwed if we go down in flames.

I have to agree with you, there is nothing like travel to open your eyes to the reality of your environment, which you become numb to and eventually get used to, as time goes by.
Perhaps it is just the overly congested area of northern NJ that we reside in, but there has been a huge upsurge of attitudes in the last few years. No one says 'excuse me' anymore or holds the door open for the next person either.
Seems that grace and class have ceased to exist.
We plan to move down South.

The 'town square' hasn't really returned, post pandemic. I don't know if its because we have gotten accustomed to deliveries from online shopping, or the economic downturn, or the crime. But people are becoming more and more isolated and then intolerant when they do go out.

So sad.

We call it Alienation for a reason? That "town square" is likely just another reification which renders the worker a commodity. And all of this increasing pressure is highly self-destructive for any community, that has to deal with the relations of capitalist exploitation without substantial mediation stateside.

None of this comes as a surprise? It's only going to get worse until the Telos of maximized profits will be replaced with a more socialist one, that doesn't pitch community members against each other.

When was it happy?
When is it not in decline?
When is the sky not falling?
When is it not signs of the freaking apocalypse?

What's the glory days here, the 80s, 50s, 20s?

America was sorta built to prevent everyone from being happy at the same time. Designed to have people fight it out as it goes. In generalized terms...

Republicans were happy under Reagan, democrats saw him as a puppet Mr. Potatohead character that would approve things because he liked the Star Wars pictures. And screw the myth that is trickledown anything. It's as flawed as communism and for the same greedy reasons.

Democrats were happy under Obama. Republicans saw him as a big government high tax socialist foreigner that wanted to, and did, help usher in a globalized devil-worshipping population culling agenda.

When Trump won the Democrats lost their minds and complained for 4 years about absolutely everything.

When Biden won the Republicans copy/paste previous.

If or when a really ideologically scary religious republican (or Trump) wins it will be the Democrats turn to think their country is in decline and all hope is gone. Hail to Theocracy and Patriarch.

If it's the end of times, everything is working exactly as intended.
