Special counsel got a search warrant for Twitter to turn over info on Trump’s account

This just came out... back in January of this year, SC Smith subpoenaed Twitter for Donald Trump's Twitter account, citing evidence of criminality. Twitter then delayed doing it and was slapped with a $350,000 fine by a lower court. It got appealed and the higher court upheld the fine. Not only that but Twitter has been under and NDA since then not to talk about the subpoena, nor any details of the searches.

Special counsel Jack Smith’s team obtained a search warrant in January for records related to former President Donald Trump’s Twitter account, and a judge levied a $350,000 fine on the company for a delay in complying, according to court documents released Wednesday.

The filing says prosecutors got the search warrant directing Twitter to produce information on Trump’s account after a court “found probable cause to search the Twitter account for evidence of criminal offenses.” The government also obtained a nondisclosure agreement prohibiting Twitter from disclosing the search warrant, the filing says.

The court found that disclosing the warrant could risk that Trump would “would seriously jeopardize the ongoing investigation” by giving him “an opportunity to destroy evidence, change patterns of behavior,” the filing says.

The article goes into a bit more details, but this is still very much a developing story. We'll likely hear a lot more about it over the next few days.

This kind of answers a question many had: why didn't Trump go back to Twitter when Musk allowed him him to go back? Why would he keep a small audience at Truth Social when he could help himself and his candidacy by again reaching a huge audience?

Now we know. His Twitter account IS evidence of a crime. There's police tape all around it. And you can't access evidence.

I don't get it. Why a search warrant for an account that is transparent and has been open for all to see for years? If anything was said it would have been ripped apart by now. The left wing running Twitter would have made sure of it long ago. I'm sure they were watching closely for ANYTHING they could have used against him.
