Understanding the frustration of not being able to find a song and lamenting music disappearing from the internet, this case peaking my archiving & research interest. Very jammin' tune that's indicative to a lot of goth rock of the era like The Cure with vocals like Depeche Mode. Mystery songs are called "Lostwave".

Full Story:

The video above states the the language sounds like English but isn't, however, I have to say a lot of the lyrics sound very English to me and understandable especially when given interpretation.

Cleaned up version with lyrics:

Whether the mystery is solved or not, one result is certain...this song will be with me from now on.

What do you think?

Good song?

Any ideas on how someone could find the origin?

The song dates back to 1984, or at least the recording taken off of West German public radio. So, no AI, at least not for the general public.

This sounds a LOT like "The Church".
Real early stuff perhaps recorded from a gig rather than the radio?

Samples and a reminder just for the heck of it..

"West German"

Gave me the flutters. Shades of Dozier and countries called 'Yugoslavia'

Cheers

I enjoyed the video by Whang! very much, thank you, and found amazing that two notes and spectrograph could provide so much information like a fingerprint.

For Emo Social Club, very cool to hear there's a discussion, but a talk radio doesn't seem to go anywhere for me, just rehashes the obvious. Inspirational though, that perhaps I could have my own radio show and people would listen for some reason.

I was a little concerned since I'm "late to the party" for just about everything on the internet that this was indeed solved and my cursory look missed the solution. Happy to hear this isn't the case. If there were an answer, I would like it delayed anyway in the same way that I wouldn't want to know how a magician does his tricks until the wonder faded away. For example, I really liked not knowing the backstory to 2001: A Space Odyssey, but given decades later, happy to know the full details in Kubrick 2001 The Space Odyssey Explained

Many years ago; early 80's, I won a red vinyl import promo 45 from a radio station call in contest. The band was U.K. Squeeze the song featured was 'Take me i'm yours' on the a-side. And I swear the b-side was this mystery song and it was labeled as a (demo).

There was such an explosion of music in the early 80s, it was practically impossible to keep up.

A local music store often had 45s like you described. I had a couple with really good songs. The records were loaned out or lost somehow. I've never been able to find any info on the bands or songs. I think some of these mystery songs were made by well-known artists doing side projects.

My first thought was similar, that the song was a recent creation doctored to seem old because a lot of hoaxes also seem to appear out of thin air. When the story went back to taping off of the radio, the plausibility shot way up for me since I used to do the same. I have a few 20-40 year old audio that I was surprised to learn aren't on the internet. Many of which I loaded up to my YouTube channel. Not intending to self-promote, but if anyone is interested in what I mean, I have them here like Doctor Who Variations on a Theme: Aegelis - YouTube

Yes, I agree, can't be AI. Yes, I used to do the same radio recordings in my teens, cutting out the DJ chat. I always thought I would never forget the band/title... age proved me wrong.

Cool channel!

Yes back then it was known a the second British invasion of music, there where songs on the radio that was overplayed in just a few weeks or days and went away, there was one hit wonders galore, many in the early 80's. I used to drool after records back in the old record shops, they would have new or even stuff playing all the time. I remember 'Rock Lobster' by the B-52's bought that record just by what I heard and not on the radio, but by what the store was playing. 45 singles was a thing and was very popular and folk do collect them.
