Here

Posted the above in January, and here we are not even a year later and pandemonium.
The mayor is in crisis mode.

abc7ny.com...

Calls for federal action as asylum seekers wait in line outside Roosevelt Hotel

New Yorks mayor said some incredulous things like maybe some private residences can house them……..WUT. You heard that right.
Texas is currently laughing its balls off.

When they interviewed some migrants they said this is not what they expected……….

Seems New York is like London in more ways than one.

When "leaders" (who are anything but) embrace politics founded upon a complete lack of connection to reality, then absurd and unfortunate results are a given.

Cheers

Well I'm sort of interested in the last line of the article. Where it says officials are encouraging the migrants to take placements outside the city when they become available. Seems like they're talking out of both sides of their mouth when earlier in the article they say they have such a labor shortage and need these migrants to get work permits ASAP. Do they need the labor or don't they?

what a mess and like everywhere else we have an establishment intent on creating an extremes that'll end up destabilising society to the point it overthrows them..

all this for some at the top to signal how virtuous they are.. and why we have the expression of the road to hell being paved with good intentions..

we've been here before in the early then late 1800s and then again in the 1920s and 1970s..

failing upwards is not leadership.. we're left with those at the top far less connected to the real effects in the real world than those at the bottom..

Illegal Immigrants should just be deported as soon as feasible upon discovery. The fact this is an issue for debate in the western world (particularly the English-speaking part) is a nothing short of ridiculous.

There are already adequate methods for legal immigration.

Asylum should be very simple since it's supposed to be for political refugees or persecuted minorities, if they don't fall into one of those two categories back they go.

They want cheap, illegal migrant labour because they can pay them a pittance, provide zero benefits and if the workers get wise to this and complain they rat out their own guys to Immigration so they get sent back. All so they don't have to meet minimum wage and labour rights requirements to hire actual citizens.

There would be no apparent labour shortage if they actually made the jobs attractive to citizens, but that would upset investors.

It's essentially a form of modern slavery. Those engaged in it & facilitate it should be treated as the criminals they are.

it really does depend on what the purpose is for importing males in vast numbers.. living on the se coast of the uk historically these groups all end up becoming part of some military conflict within a decade.. those that survive end upp returning home or integrating. for England the largest single group of migrants where the Huguenots and outside of the continental wars there is nothing much left of the groups foot prints..

there are loads of questions not least why so many young males when we are in the midst of an industrial revolution in automation, ai and robots ending the need for cheap labour, bar as bodies for conflict..

There are ways to solve this but nobody wants to do it.

Before change is made, discomfort must happen, maybe this is an all a good thing.
Allow New Yorkers to feel what Texas is feeling, what Arizona is feeling, what Florida is feeling.
I think there will be a lot more empathy.

They probably expect them to make a 3-hour commute to London for work.

That's what other cities are doing asking landlords with private rental units to house refugees/migrants temporarily and they will foot the bill until they fix the problems with the shelter systems. What's wrong with that?

Thank you for oversimplifying the problem. Have you ever lived near the border?

They should be doing that for homeless veterans and other Americans FIRST?

Maybe start electing leaders that actually work to find solutions for people's needs and not their own agendae?

Maybe we could start with one that isn't pro-massive-immigration? hmmmm, who might that be?

with a broken political class tearing up the existing social contract that requires the kind of change the current setup can't provide that appears as true for the usa as for my own jurisdiction (England) though mine has a majority voting block that consider themselves politically homelesss..

Well then how about some inventive solutions like asking private citizens to help out by renting out some empty space they may have and the government foots the bill? What about zoning changes so people can convert that garage to a rental unit or build on to an existing structure for rental accommodation? Keep the same politicians if you have absolutely no other option, but just give them the solutions because they obviously can't think of solutions themselves.
