Alex the Terrible

I've been following this guy for years when I saw him doing goofy pop song covers, but with the voice of a demon. We kind of became pen pals (he's Russian), and still talk occasionally.

He went from a goofy youtube personality, to being HUGE once his band, Slaughter to Prevail, came out with their album Kostolom.

Now... Kostolom is not my cup of tea, but I keep listening just to hear his gutturals. He's continuously breaking new ground on what the human voice is capable of.

They just released this new song a few days ago, and WOW! The music is getting closer to my liking, and THAT VOICE!!!

About half of it is in Russian, but I don't listen to metal for lyrics anyway.

The best part is, he's an absolute angel and big teddy bear of a human being. GREAT guy, and he's achieved success that's unheard of in Russia with growls.

There's certainly effects at play, but most of it is organic. I've seen them live twice now, and he pulls it off live without effects. He even has a new trick where he does it without a mic, and you can actually still hear him over the crowd and band. So much power behind that voice.

As far as I've heard, when it comes to guttarals, he is the GOAT. And he keeps getting better. Will Ramos and Travis Ryan are #2 and #3 to me.

I was friends with Corey in their heyday, and he did have to cancel a few shows because he blew out his vocal cords lol. It's why he no longer growls like he did on the self titled album.

Till is another animal. He's a legend at this point. Very few people can sing at that octave.

Wow, what a voice. Love it.
