Didnt he actually donate to both parties, albeit it was more secretive for the GOP? There was a good piece on how he want to be recognized by the democrats for his donations because they were in power, but want to keep the channel open to the republicans...

how much did he donate to each?

Much more went Democrats as I recall.

Big guy got his cut, so the scorned former judge will fight to protect those of the true faith.

But if you have the wrong letter after your name watch out.

their just dropping one charge campaign fiance charge because of the Bahama's said they weren't wanting to extradite on that one, still charged with the rest of the fraud charges. their not dong it for to protect him, it's those that got a cut of the 40 million duckies he gave them, here and in the Bahama's

CLAIM: The Department of Justice has dropped all charges against FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, who is accused of cheating investors and looting customer deposits on the cryptocurrency trading platform.
AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. Federal prosecutors said last week that they are no longer pursuing one campaign finance charge against Bankman-Fried, but confirmed he is still set to face other charges at an October criminal trial. He may also face a second trial on additional charges next year.
No, prosecutors did not drop all charges against Sam Bankman-Fried

NEW YORK, July 27 (Reuters) - The decision by U.S. prosecutors on Wednesday to drop a campaign finance charge against Sam Bankman-Fried may keep his trial focused on what the government considers his main crime: stealing billions of dollars from cryptocurrency customers at his now-bankrupt FTX exchange.

Bankman-Fried, 31, is fighting to stay out of jail ahead of his Oct. 2 trial on fraud charges, after prosecutors in Manhattan accused him of tampering with witnesses by sharing personal writings of his former romantic partner Caroline Ellison with a New York Times reporter.

He got a modest victory on Wednesday night when prosecutors decided to drop a campaign finance charge claiming the former billionaire illegally directed associates to donate millions of dollars to political campaigns.

That decision came after the Bahamas, where FTX was based and Bankman-Fried was arrested in December, told the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan it had not intended to extradite Bankman-Fried on that charge.

Bankman-Fried campaign finance charge dropped, lessening trial's political focus

it would have been nice to see who got what as far as the sad POS's on the hill got. but the billons taken from people is more important to me. he just wasn't in the club good enough for it to slide.

I mean what is this ride? How can I get off?

I looked to see if this has been brought up, couldnt find anything. Move or close if needed please.

False thread title, and a link to a lying Kimmy Dore video.

Bankman-Fried is still has multiple charges against. The only one dropped had to do with campaign finance. Not going to waste time discussing all the ways the JD video is falsely describing the situation. And why is this one charge being dropped? Because the DOJ is attempting to adhere to the legal obligations of the FTX founder's extradition from the Bahamas.

THE FACTS: In the days since prosecutors dropped the campaign finance charge against Bankman-Fried, some social media users falsely claimed that the Department of Justice had given up on the case entirely, insinuating that it was because of his past political donations.

One post on X, formerly known as Twitter, read in part: “DOJ drops all charges against SBF.” The post, which had more than 6,000 likes, went on to point out that he was a prolific donor in the 2022 midterm elections.

However, only one charge was dropped by prosecutors. Nicholas Biase, a spokesperson for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, confirmed to The Associated Press over email. Bankman-Fried remains criminally charged, as indicated on the public docket, he said.

“The only count the Government will not pursue is count 8, the campaign finance charge,” Biase told the AP. “The defendant faces trial on the remaining indictment and superseding indictment in October of this year and February of 2024.”

Federal prosecutors told the judge they were dropping the charge because the government in the Bahamas didn’t consider it to be part of Bankman-Fried’s extradition to the U.S. in December. They would not pursue it at the trial in keeping with U.S. treaty obligations to the Bahamas.

Bankman-Fried still faces seven charges in October from the original indictment filed last year, which include defrauding customers, and lenders. He also faces a second trial next year on other charges filed in a superseding indictment earlier this year, including conspiracy to violate the anti-bribery provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

As the AP reported, the campaign finance charge pertained to the government’s allegation that Bankman-Fried had enabled over $100 million siphoned from Alameda Research — his cryptocurrency hedge fund trading firm — to fund unlawful political contributions.

Prosecutors alleged in an indictment that Bankman-Fried made the contributions to improve his personal standing in Washington, D.C., to increase FTX’s profile and to “curry favor with candidates” who might help pass legislation favorable to FTX.

Before its collapse, FTX was the world’s second-largest crypto exchange and Bankman-Fried was its CEO and a billionaire several times over, at least on paper. FTX entered bankruptcy in November when the global exchange ran out of money after the equivalent of a bank run.

No, prosecutors did not drop all charges against Sam Bankman-Fried

So, in order to get him extradited to the US from the Bahamas, one of eight charges was dropped. Hence, another false thread title, intentional or not, from a right-wing ATS'er. And would the people here criticizing the DOJ prefer that it kept the charge, but risk not having BF extradited? FTR, the campaign charge would've added 2-5 years to the rest of the charges, which likely would already mean a significantly longer sentence than would the campaign finance charge.

And seriously, using a Jimmy Dore video as your sole source of a claim? Weak. Really week. Honestly, any OP on a subject of import should have a link to an article. If you want to throw a video link in too, fine. It is much easier to parse an article than listen to a rambling video by some mega ego.

Why didn't the OP bother to look for an article to confirm what the video was claiming before starting a thread? And did any of the usual RW posters bother to do any looking into the matter themselves, i.e. look for an article on the subject before cramming into the RW peanut gallery? Of course not!

Is the OP going to have the title of the thread changed or apologize for the lackadaisical way the person researched the OP before posting? I doubt it.

Apparently you didn't read other posts in this thread, which showed that the claims is false, before posting yourself. To wit, these:

Post link 1

Post link 2

Post link 3

The bottom line: the campaign charge (one out of eight charges) was dropped in order not to endanger the extradiction agreement with the Bahamas. And you failed to read three posts that pointed this out, one with the pertinent information highlighted in red?

And contrary to your claim, the campaign contributions didn't stop the guy from being prosecuted. There are still seven charges pending on wire fraud and related crimes. In other words, the system worked and the DOJ wasn't being influenced.

A better source wouldn't have made the specious claim that JD and the title of this thread made, so OF COURSE a better source wasn't found.

I am actually going to register as a Democrat going forward for those very reasons. It's Just safer. I also think we need a revolution in America. Republicans like Mike Pence, Mitt Romney, and Mitch McConnell are Rinos. I am going to become a Dino and vote for Robert Kennedy. We need to break both parties from within.

I think Biden is a Alzhemic tool and Trump is a loud mouth fool. Kennedy is a brave man that speaks his mind and I while I don't agree with him on everything. I have respect for him.

I will never vote for anybody that isn't utterly hated by both parties and the media. Kennedy is hated by both parties and the mainstream media.

I think it would be interesting to see what Kennedy does with the CIA, the FBI and the Cabal that's been operating in our government. He definitely has them on his radar. They are behind the cover up on UFO's. We were warned about them by Eisenhower in 61 and by JFK before he was murdered.

Trump was an idiot that trusted the Rinos in the Republican party that are working with the Democrats to destroy our country. I would like to see somebody smarter take a shot at dismantling the Powers that Be!

Looks like the donations to the Congress paid off, two tiered justice system.

He donated money to almost 40% of the Congress members. Over the last two years before his arrest he donated $72,100,000 to our legislators.

At least $44.6 million went to the Democrat candidates and PACs, and at least $23.9 million went to the Republican ones.

Money well spent. Now if only the regular people could get the money lost as well.

That's bogus. And didn't these celebs get away with pushing FTX?

What a failure of our system that lets the rich go free because they have great lawyers, meanwhile thousands of investors get screwed because they don't have unlimited funds to take Bankman-Fried to court.

I always never understoud how an average person who steals a small amount of money from somone would get locked up with hard criminals in jail. But someone who steals and defrauds people of multi-millions, often gets a slap of the wrist.

There is a "two-tierd Justice system" and its between the rich and poor..

They are behind the UFO deception, disinformation campaign, and psy-op.
