My son called a bit ago and shared some news about something that happened at work last night. He makes the boards and chips for cars and works the weekend shift. 12 hour shifts, Friday to Sunday.

There was a woman at work with a crazy ex husband. Abusive when they were together, he was stalking her, harassing her at work, would show up and security would have to kick him out or local police were called. This had been going on for months and she and her boyfriend were pretty fed up with the whole thing.
Well, last night, everything came to a head. The boyfriend left work at lunch time [ about 11:30 at night ], met the ex husband in town and stabbed him to death and then just came back to work like everything was normal. The cops show up and arrest the guy and my son said it was peaceful. No guns drawn or SWAT teams, they just walked in, put him in cuffs and the guy never fought them or even seemed to be upset.

My son said it was a little creepy to know he was working alongside someone who has just murdered a guy and came back to work like it was nothing.

Exes are toxic sometimes and I think this guy had gotten away with it so often, he never expected anyone to actually do anything about it.

He f**ked around and found out.

Imagine how scared, fed up, annoyed, hurt or whatever you have to be to do it in this manner. I guess this was the only option left in that guy's mind, to get rid of the problem in the way he did.

Not to excuse the murder... just trying to contemplate. If we give him the benefit of the doubt that he was not crazy and look at how police picked him up, he probably informed them after murdering the Ex. So this means he knew what he was going to do, it might have been a "her/me or him" situation.

Why wasn't there a restrain order in place, with such a backstory? Different country here but I know it is possible. I had an ordeal with such a person who got violent that I dated, we got in a fight after I confronted him about some shady stuff he was pulling of in my private life and that conversation ended with two guys jumping his fence to drag him off me. It did not take a week to get a restrain order as he was also storm calling all my numbers both private and business.

EPO [ emergency protection order ] are pretty easy to get in the U.S but when it all comes down to it, it's just a piece of paper and some will just ignore in their obsession to get back at their ex.
Even if you have one, you have to call the police and they will be arrested, but they can do a lot of damage before the cops get there.

Sorry but a protection order isnt worth the paper its on. If someone has set their mind to it, whatever it is, there arent police there 24/7. They'll just write the after action report.

Yes that's correct, it's just a piece of paper that itself does not protect. It's also a direct go to jail card and a permanent entry on the persons criminal record. IMHO it should not be left unused when available. I mean not ignoring the existence of it, even though on first looks useless.

Makes me wonder if the X had made a direct threat. Just speculation of course.

I’ve said it before here, but what the hell is the purpose of a father, husband, brother, or even more distant male relatives ?
Sure, worthless BS like eating together at holidays is great ….. but when a lady in your family is threatened or hurt …. You’d better be your own damned sheriff.
Fine, call the cops ….. say fix it today, or we will tomorrow. Tell them your own boys will be deployed and the guy goes home dead if he shows up.
I’m so shocked and disgusted by guys on the news crying “oh my poor baby” after she gets slaughtered.
WTF …. End yourself you worthless SOB.
And let’s not be sexist. If it’s a gal vs. your girl …. Same same. Or anybody of any stripe vs. my sons…..
Same same.
Kudos to this guy who sacrificed his life to do the right thing. If this was in my town, I’d be donating to his defense. If this was my family, I’d be in there with him, proudly.

Maybe after repeated attempts to stop the guy, the guy just figured he needed to put a stop to this guy harassing his GF. Maybe the Ex had threatened her with harm. I have known many guys over the years that would have gone after someone like the Ex husband if it was a constant threat to the woman. I don't know any that ever killed a person though, they usually just beat the piss out of them. The Ex was probably warned multiple times by the cops whom did little to nothing....it is getting that way in society these days. The cops arrest bad people and they are out on bail the next day and just get probation and a small fine.

We have something wrong with our societies legal system if a person has to go kill a threat to their loveone. It is not just the boyfriend that is a problem in this case.

Sounds like they tried all the “methods”.
At that point, you either put a stop to it, or you just cry cry cry when she’s the one who dies.

This is a deeply disturbing, and creepy, event. There are many these days that shake my perspective and this is one of them.

I would hope that there were other attempts made to stop this like contacting the police and the awareness of management before it reached this point. The wreckage, for the ex-wife, boyfriend, co-workers and so on, perhaps could have been prevented if authorities stood up and took on the power and position they are given.

The ripples of letting it go or stopping it affects the community accordingly. I wonder sometimes what the authorities want by letting harassment go on.

It's a Simple as this. Did the man who killed the other man think it was justified. If he did then technically it was a killing not a murder. So sitting next to a killer is not the same. A very nice example for everybody:- was your father ever in WW2, Korean war. Vietnam etc. he may have killed multiple men yet he came home and raised you as a loving father. But he was still a killer. The difference, in war it's justified, just like the first man if it was justified.

We really need to know the details of their encounter, too. Stabby guy could say he did go there to talk, and pulled his knife when he feared for his life due to Stabee’s actions.
Knife slightly less damning than a gun, depending on local laws.
And it may not be creepy, maybe Stabby is just a stoic guy, went to work to just wait for his fate knowing he had fallen on his sword doing the right thing. Well, the other guy actually fell on his sword, but ya know what I mean.
