I agree that women should be paid equally. There is just a major flaw though. When you are hired on a job that is typically male work, because we are physically stronger then you should work like a man. It's not my choice that a woman chooses a physical labor job.

I work in a warehouse in the middle of the heat stacking fifty pound boxes while women just put stickers, fold box flaps, or hold a box straight so the oil goes in. Myself and one other man are the only two males in that section. We do the same thing day in and day out. We also have to climb tall ladders when they are slick because oil on peoples feet. The men don't rotate. We are just stuck. We all get the same $14 an hour.

On the application it said you have to be able to lift fifty pounds. This means 99% of the women lied. This is a bunch of crap. I should atleast get paid more. Either that or let them lift boxes. I don't care if what your physical excuse is. If you said that you could lift fifty pounds...then do it.

It is like this everywhere. Woman don't want the crappy job so the pawn it off on the men. You want equal pay women? Then do equal work. Take that trash out, lift that box, climb that ladder, or just get away from me. Stop making excuses or go find another job. I realize this is not all women. There are plenty of women that can walk the walk. Society has conditioned this, and it should stop.

While i agree, you too have a choice to go and work elsewhere and leave them to do it. While you continue to do this it won’t change.

My friend is a nurse and he has to do any heavy lifting of patients, mattresses etc as the women can’t do it. Again, same pay but for his troubles he now has a bad back after years of this.

It isn’t equality that is being looked for and it never was.

Picking examples that suit you.
Of course it's not right if one human does more challenging work than another, they should get paid more.

That said, you shouldn't have to do work that hurts you either.
I don't know where you live but health and safety is a thing in most first world countries. If the lifting actually harms you, the employer either has to train you to carry property, get a device that helps you with the lifting or get someone stronger.

The women can't lift and shouldn't. It's just that it is known fact most women can't, whilst you just keep doing it despite the fact you can't either.
How is that the women's fault.

Further more, it sounds that they are still doing work by applying stickers. So they should get paid whatever the going rate is.
You could ask your boss if you could do that instead of lifting.
Do you lift all day and do nothing else or is it an occasional "unfairness"?

It sounds unfair to pay the women less just because they are incapable of lifting.
I am sure they do things you don't do, so everyone is contributing the best they can.

As I said, stop hating women, hate your boss for relying on men instead of making it easy for everyone to do the same job.

You are the silently suffering, and hateful donkey here, blame yourself too, but not the women or the hourly wage going for the job.

It didn't matter. If the job requires you to do X and you lied about it and are now forcing other people to do it then saying it's unfair and hateful to you for them to complain about it, you don't deserve the job. Can't do the job, don't need the job.

It's not unfair. Unfortunate maybe, but not unfair. Why should those capable be subsidizing those who can't or won't?

I believe that part of being a "man" is holding the door open for women or offering to help with carrying a woman's things. "Please, let me do that for you" is automatic for a "man" when a woman is trying to do a physically demanding task nearby. On average men are stronger than women and good men willingly help women. There is a mating aspect involved I'm sure, a woman gaining the attention of a man who is willing to impress.

That being said, I agree with job qualifications, and IMO what you are stating is what makes women's lib so lopsided.

I wonder what working like a man means to you? Physical strength is not the only quality that influences work place performance.

Ladders are challenging. Have you tried speaking with someone if it's a safety issue?

I doubt they lied unless you asked them to give it a try. I know plenty of strong women who lift more then that on a regular basis.

I have not really encountered this in the workplace. Most women I know do their best to practice working to their abilities. Perhaps you are thinking of less mature females?

You are venting in your op, however it raises good points for discussion.

I personally believe we should lean on one another's strengths, especially when work is busy and time is of the essence. In slower moments, I've noticed it's usually a better time to give individuals instruction in skills and tasks on which they would like to improve. I understand when that when people are working hard, and don't feel their concerns are addressed or perspective validated; it can become easier to feel resentful. I dislike ladders as much as any other, but climbing is not always practical....

Just so you guys know I am on medication that dehydrates me quicker than most humam beings, and I get migraines every 4 out of 5 shifts. If they split the work or traded men around for women in a different area it would work fine. But no.... they are too dumb to figure that out. There are enough employees to do so. To answer this question of the geographic area. I am in Houston TX. Intense heat with humidity. I have 1 saving grace. I was not dumb enough to work day shifts. Nights are cooler.

I agree with you.

Anyone doing a physical job, that will take a toll on the body, or could cause injury, should be paid more. If a woman is doing it, she should get more. But if she is leaving the heavy lifting to the man?

Sorry darling, you get paid less.

a reply to: chiefsmom i need to leave this place I know. Hell my supervisor makes claims that it came from her boss. She just got caught red handed. There is asbestos from god knows when on the ceiling. One employee who has been there 10 years that pieces fall off when the rain water leaks. The only reason I am still here is that I will get moved around to another area. Also, I live so close I maybe use 100 miles worth of gas in a month. I could bet a better paying job and end up with less money. The other areas are not that bad though.

I actually take allergy medication myself. It's really hard going years wondering why I sometimes had a hard time falling asleep.

I can easily get by sleeping less then eight hours a night, because I usually sleep like a rock.

I find it really helps with resisting the urge to scratch, but break out in hives when I do. It really sucks depending on if I get fever or even start to feel warm.

I do my best to practice being on time for work, and practicing meeting my responsibilities at least half way.

The thought occurred to me that taking it more frequently then I'm supposed to is not good for me, but tried to not go too hard on myself because I often have lots on my plate.

Fortunately I raised my concerns recently with friendly neighbors.

For 25 years, I did not notice how the medication effected my sleep. It was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders, realizing that.

I suggest putting your physical health first. Practice looking after your body, and your body will try to practice looking after you.

A friend of mine, a woman, was working as a salesperson for a large company. It was very busy, and the department was several women handling sales calls.
All of management was male, this happened about fifteen years ago.
The salary was not fantastic, but it was steady work, she and her husband were paying a mortgage and putting their son through college.
Then came the economic troubles of 2008, the women were put on 4 day workweeks, cutting one day out of their pay each week. She was really struggling through that period, but she and her husband managed to get their son through four years of an expensive college in NJ.
So she was not prepared for the memo she found while cleaning out the files a year or so later. Department heads were instructed to give no salary increases that year, and that they would be given bonuses if they followed these instructions.

I feel Womens Liberation campaign created this monster? The powers that be created it to get women into the workplace back then but all they really wanted to do was to tax the other half of society.

Equal pay for equal value is what women want, have fought for, and have (sometimes) got.

Women want a meritocracy in work, where they have an equal chance.

TBH, nurses of both sexes should have access to equipment and training for moving patients. Cannot speak for elsewhere, but in the UK there is massive focus on "manual handing" in nursing and patient care, precisely because of the risk of back pain to staff.

I agree 100% and my mind is boggled that these women get away with this. I think it's disgusting double standards.
Has anyone ever brought this up ? I don't suppose some of the women agree as well?

& I'm a woman btw
