A 45% pay rise by 2025, who else can expect such a rise?

Can the tax payer afford it? What happened to austerity?

Well I’m sure he will give it to some of his favourite charities like Just stop oil, Climate extinction rebellion and the BBC.

He should be made to live off £84.80 JSA a week.

And sanctioned, when he knocks back the unpaid work in Pound Land.

Over-privileged twat that he is, has never done a hard days graft in his life.

Exactly!
There's a reason why Diana called the Royal family 'the firm' and the late Queen called Buck Palace 'the office'.

The tax payer doesn't directly pay into those coffers. Perhaps investigate Crown Estates and how it works and where the money comes from?
Here you go.... happy to help...

would you give the family back their inherited estates or would you conflicate it?

and if you approve of confiscating inheritance wealth where would you draw the line as every penny of inherence is unearned or do you only approve of confiscate the wealth of those you personally dislike?

given the gov gets more from the crown estates than they give wouldn't it be fair to give them their estates back and tax their profits rather than keeping it all and dishing out a smaller portion..

of course it is its always been that way, but its still the junior line... looking at it through that lens the firm is not as rich or as powerful as people think..

the really wealthy families of which the stuarts windsors etc are the junior lines exited stage left at the time of the American revolution, the great guilds also exited at this time and no one has counted their wealth ever since.. the fitzalan howards where richer generation on generation 200 years ago than charlie could be now with the crown estates,

who knows where that wealth now stands 200 years o.n.. i've oft wondered if these families where the secret foundation x that came forward to offer cameron gold to bail out the uk in 2011.. the crown only ever got a few percent of the gold these families took from the spanish etc..

so most of the gold coming into the country went into the hands of those families and we have no sight of their true wealth.

I would put homeless people up in their ""inherited estates"" nickyw just to see the look on their puss.

Charles was best pals with the likes of Jimmy Savile, and is now our King, which speaks volumes.

Brothers also a known dirty wrong'yin.

So if you like the fellow or family, or think it's acceptable that the British taxpayers provide for them, im apt to ponder why?

Take the lot, and put them on the street, see how long they last in the real world would be my thinking on the matter.

I would get rid of the royal family in this day of age nickyw.

As i find the notion of royalty draconian and arcane in the world we now live.

Nobody should be above anyone else, and royalty hardly promotes equality amongst our fellow man.

The question is what do we replace them with?

job seekers benefits.. which seems pointless unless the intent is to confiscate the families wealth.. if you do that whee do you draw the line is it simply those people dislike those with wrong views or confiscate absolutely everyone inheritance so everyone always remains broke.

Where do they draw the line nickyw.

Anywhere they please perchance?

How do they justify going from £86m to £125m, inflation maybe?

The thing is most people's wages have not risen in line with inflation and the cost of living.

So why the hell should the royals be getting more cash money to the tune of a 45% increase, when there is austerity all over the country, and everyone else is on their arse?

How's that fair?

Pretty much, but can you imagine Charles having to budget and live off £84.80 a week?

Might give him some perspective as to the shape of reality and put it that way.

There's a lot of positives and negatives to a constitutional monarchy; the main benefit is having a non-political head of state and the armed forces who can put politicians in their place. Would you really want Sunak or Starmer (or any other politician in the world) as a President?

The Queen took the role very seriously and was easilly the world's most experienced Head, diplomat, envoy, peacebroker etc...of the last 100 years (and general history of civilisation); however I can't see Charles doing the role justice or commanding any respect on the international scene.

in general heads of state also want to make money and grow into more important roles Blair wanted to be emperor/pope/president of europe.. a president blair of the uk would have wanted the same thing and eventually aim to be leader of the free world**

the only one above charlie boy is god so a constitutional monarchy places a ceiling over their heads a presidency wouldn't.

**in that vein i see blair as a cardinal wolsey cameron as herny7 johnson as a henry8, truss as jane gray and suak as either mary1 or edward6, we're waiting on a lizzy1 to bring back a bit of plurality and reason to bridge these divisions..

Have you ever grown up with an official dungeon in your basement? Got a mum dealing with the national pressures of WW2. I get where you are coming from and Charles does come across as a bit of a twat at times. As for how the wheels of parliament turn he has an important role until the UK becomes a republic.

Erm..... Prince William and his 5 year initiative regarding homeless comes to mind. Five different locations including part of his inherited (Monarchy) from the Duchy of Cornwall spring to mind.
As to Charles and Saville, that's a whole different subject to the OP. I could site Frank Bruno meeting Saville and Sutcliff. As to Andrew, he's a whole different level of yuk combined with stupid and every family has one somewhere in their lineage, no?
Royalty has been around in every nation of this world since humans appeared..... pretty much. There always has to be a 'leader of the pack' it's just the power they have that varies. Our Royal family has very little power in reality.
What do we replace the royal family with? Hmmm.... Charles is very different from his parents, or certainly appears to be more vocal about his views. As to William, his values are more akin to his mothers.... e.g., homlessness. Things take time to evolve and move with the times and right now, the family are evolving. Charles wont be around for very much longer, let's see what William brings to the table in this.
