If we want to look at that angle of things, Richard Shaver stated that the Deros lived in caverns located underground, and some of them lived in crystal cities. Kames Matthews in the late 1700s stated that he ended up in a large crystal cave located under British Parlaiment when he went hunting for where the Air Loom was being housed.

So the idea of a subculture of humans that have been living in these massive geodes wouldn't be too far out of the realm of possibilities. Even in the Americas we have the famous Cave of Crystals in Mexico.

MANN...or MEN, (plural) arrived here who knows when WO-man was created after the HU-man hybrid.
