Even the morels have a look alike that is not attached at the stem. Other than that they look the same. a reply to: openminded2011

I think I read that the look alikes have a hollow stem ?

I do have birch syrup and alcohol and I do have some stuff to collect sap in stock. I bought a little bottle of birch syrup from the guy I get my maple syrup and strawberries from to experiment with. I guess it is good to put on meat before BBQing, just need to mix a little Jack Daniels with it to make a good medicinal steak sauce.


The chaga just converts the betulin by sort of creating some alcohol I guess to make it medicinal.

Those appear to be Matango mushrooms, very rare to find them outside of the Pacific Rim.

I think it's: armillaria tabescens
Or perhaps armillaria mellea , hymenochaete , armillaria ostoyae , or lyophyllum decastes
or something totally different!

Warning!!! Many mushrooms look alike and many are toxic!
Champignouf makes a lot of mistakes!
Do not eat mushrooms without being sure they are edible, you could die!


I'm never eating a wild mushroom I looked up each one it mentioned not a single match .

Like morels? Or edible bolete? Shiitake, etc?

If you don’t know anything about picking, the Internet is not a safe place to learn. Find a local club.

It’s far easier and safer than people on here portray; I’ve been eating wild mushrooms since my childhood, (picking with extended family) and I’ve never gotten sick from it.


You can do it, and it will turn into a hobby of a lifetime. But you Zoomers can’t do it on the Internet, so most of you never will.
